Flight Madrid Barajas Airport - Rabat Of Solar Impulse 1, Best Moments

June 6th, 2012 - Best moments of the 2nd leg of Mission 2012, Destination Morocco. Flight Madrid-Rabat
2012 culminated in the decoration of Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg by King Mohammed VI after completing world's first fully solar-powered intercontinental flight: more than 6'000 km, from Switzerland to Morocco and back, without using a drop of fuel.
WHAT IS SOLAR IMPULSE ?
The only airplane of perpetual endurance, able to fly day and night on solar power, without a drop of fuel.
Our challenge is to attempt the First Round-The-World Solar Flight in 2015. A way for Bertrand Piccard, André Borschberg and their team to demonstrate how pioneering spirit, innovation and clean technologies can change the world.

Bigger than Bleriot. This is a huge achievement and a very sophisticated airship. Perpetual flight is a reality. So many firsts in aviation were accomplished on the very margins of success but this craft has huge potential left to demonstrate.

good acheivement, I presume the batterys were fully charged through solar power alone pre night flight ?

The cells have charged up all day, So att night it uses up all that energy aswell as flying in a dive
