Another trick I learned with a glider w/o flaps that has a big prop- you can give it about 5% - 10% throttle, just enough to get the prop spinning out in the wind stream, but not giving the plane any forward momentum. This acts like a giant air brake and really slows the plane down a lot. It is a little tricky at first, but you can get the feel for it easily. Then right before touchdown, go to 0% throttle and let the prop fold to avoid prop strike. I do that every landing with my Radian XL now and I don't even need flaps or spoilers.

+BWX Hmm, that sounds interesting, I might need to try that next time. Thanks for the tip. 👍🏼

I've been struggling with that and was just recently thinking the same, will try this next time :)

This method works a treat I do this with my Blaze as it goes a lot quicker with no prop than with a tiny amount of prop

'Crow' requires flaps + ailerons, ie flaps down and both ailerons up (usually at max). Camber is flaps and ailerons down (5-10%), while 'Reflex' is both up (5-10%). As posted below, in ailerons only mode, the up position is usually referred to as "Spoilerons" as they spoil the air flow and the down position is as you said "flaperons". Recently got my Excalibur and had just 4 flights so far and agree it is a great plane. The hatch is a must glue/fix from the start as I lost my hatch on the maiden but never saw it disappear! Definitely agree on spoilerons and I have a 3 position switch for off/50/100% deflection and didn't need to add in any elevator correction.
@AussieRCPlayground7 жыл бұрын
That is excellent!! Thank you very much for the explanation of all those modes. I was not sure which one it was I was doing, but glad it was clear enough to understand. You are correct also that no mix in elevator is needed when using spoilerons and I have it set pretty much as you do with off/50%/100% deflection. Happy to hear it's working out for you and that you're enjoying the plane. Thank you again for your detailed comment and for watching. :)

Sensational to see you've picked up one of these bad boys. It really is such a great flyer. I really enjoyed that you put it up in that crazy wind! Nice job Vas!

Thanks Micheal. Yeah, it was a but-clenching couple of minutes there, but the plane took it well (and so did I). I surprise myself sometimes and I was quite pleased to have land safely. It's such a great plane to fly and I'm so glad I got one for myself. Thanks for watching. :)

Great video! Now they have the V2, I just bought mine yesterday as of 03-24-2023 Don't worry about the proper wording because we all know the function. The description is "flaperons" they slow down and put slight down pressure by bleeding off the lift as it lands so it will not life off again Thank you for the video it was very informative!

Unfortunately, where I live the wind is like this 99% of the time. So I've only ever owned 1 plane and crashed it beyond repair on it's maiden flight. lol.

Excellent review! I owned aDurafly Dynamic S years ago,very similar design,they fly fast and are very airobatic.They are very strong however a warning is if you ever have a crash make sure everything is Reinforced, i had nothing but trouble with mine after a minor crash.The prop hitting the canopy is wat happened with mine also,other than that reckon i might just go an buy me an Excaliber!

ON THE EXCALIBUR IF YOU GIVE IT 5% THROTTLE IT WANTS TO GO, BUT IF YOU PUSH YOUR THROTTLE TO IT'S LOWEST POSSIBLE POINT TO WHERE THE PROP JUST SPINS THEN IT WILL SLOW IT DOWN SLIGHTLY. Aussie RC Playground, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO SET UP CAMBER WITH MY "EX" AND DX6 TRANS.

Cat it fly with 3s lipo?
@AussieRCPlayground5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can. I have flown it with a 2200mah 3S before, but you may need extra weight in the nose. The plane flys fine with a 3S and still has a lot of power, it just needs a little weight to get the CG right.

great review a question on the crow could you please list how you set it up on the receiver and transmitter . Did you need to MIX the aileron with the v-tail ? did you add down trim on vtail when ailerons are up ? thanks

I love the aircraft and love your practical review. Are you in Sydney? I am, and like that sports ground you fly in - lots of room and few people. Looks like Western Sydney. Where is it? Thanks for the great intro to the plane.

Ailerons up= reflex
@pp-pz7ty6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right, but in this case it calls spoilerons. Reflex is for speed mode, relex with high angel is for hight drag and sink rate and call spoilerons :D
