Yeah, he was on UNICOM there, so somebody was pretending to be a Center. Note that Center will pretty much never ask for your "speed" of any kind, but if they did they would specify indicated airspeed, true airspeed, or groundspeed.

@@giantpickle thats not always the case, you could be right. but pilots like to communicate their speed and altitude on unicom so they can indicate possibly safety issues like oncoming collision courses. also it might of been your word choice because i can't full grasp what you mean, but center will occasionally ask what your speed is depending on the traffic in the area.
