I'm very pleased that they painted up the JP as a "Red Pelicans" aircraft. Sorry that you had an unsatisfactory experience on the radio. The speeded up footage of the flight there, reminded me of that old "London to Brighton in 4 minutes" train film.

@@Payne2view it was not so much unsatisfactory as me expecting more than they can give. I really got to understand when my wife (who is air ground radio) explained how hard it is to help guide people without giving instructions especially when the field is busy. I don't blame anyone but myself. I remember to bit of film as well 😀

EGSX my second home and base for 8 years. I know what you mean about the G to A radio and the limitations that can bring on a busy day, however they generally do a great job and although they can't tell you what to do if you ask they would suggest options. I wish I had known you were coming down, I could have brought you a cuppa. Nice video Algy and the camera view on the return was better than on the outbound leg. Thanks sir.

Nice trip down and lots of aircraft including the mighty JP ( aluminium vacuum cleaner) takes me back to my Cosford days. Shame about the radio co-ordination faff. Thanks for sharing.
@flyingkub2 ай бұрын
@@GolfFoxtrot22 the radio faff was part me not understand what the G/A radio expected of me and part a another aircraft being in a rush and a lot of other radio chatter from aircraft doing things I was not expecting. At least I know what to expect and had a chance to reflect on how to do better.

That was an intresting video Algy. A very busy and mixed show and for you to be confused it must have been bad. Never mind, as nickbarsby said, evryone is safe. Cheers Michael

@@michaelchartres it was busy and I am not familiar with the airfield, I learned a couple of lessons,. If I had the cockpit audio at the time, I would share them but I didn't see the camera was flat, until I was well away from the field.

Always love your videos.....I think that's a TR6 @ 4:00, lol

@@jimmyboy163 yes it was a nice example of a Triumph TR6 there were a few nicely restored cars and some very expensive modern ones as well. It is just a spits distance from London so plenty of money about.

@@JodelFlyer I thought you said you had grandparents duties when I saw you at Stow Marie's. It took an 1hour 20min both ways.

Why do you only fly ultralights? Do you ever fly a full size? What kind of license do you have ?
@flyingkub2 ай бұрын
@@outlawflyer7868 I first learnt to fly back in the 70's on Chipmunks and had a full PPL but joined the RAF as an engineer (because I was too tall to be a fighter pilot and there was no other route), so my licence lapsed. In the RAF I flew regularly as a engineer and for fun hang gliders and paragliders, competing at national level. Roll on 10 years after RAF and I decide to get back into fixed wing flying, not being rich and having family to support I went for Microlights (or LSA as they are known in the USA). So I have a National PPL(A), which allows me to fly Microlights up to 600kg MTOW. Don't mix up an SSDR with an ultralight (part 103) they are heavier and faster but I think the fun is the same, it is about time in the air, not the distance covered, if I wanted to do that I am licensed (with conversion) to fly the companies Shark, which is a Microlight that can fly at a 130knots. It is all about what you want, the Shark beats a 150 cessna and a 1/4 the running cost.
