I was watching AOPA's channel a while back when, at the end, there was a message about keeping GA alive. It was ironic after such a boring, poorly edited program. When I commented, they pointed me to FlyBy, their program for pilots with ADD. Really, though, if you want to attract young people, channels like this one may be the answer. Better video, better editing and better personality than AOPA. We need the AOPA for many reasons, but old people with deeper pockets drive most of GA, and that may just be the problem with recruting new pilots.

Line up is simple if you imagine wearing roller skates. No matter the aircraft size or configuration, just put your skates on both sides of the centerline like you’re guiding on a metal rail. It’s amazing how the visualization of wheels on your feet gives you instant feedback to ride that virtual rail.

Hey Chops.. nice to see these two videos.. As a first-time builder, i picked the -12 because it was the easiest/fastest to build and i didn’t want to bite off more than i could chew. I’m 75% done and i wish i went for the -9 or -14 .. not because my mission changed or i made the wrong choice, but because i know my build will be done soon and i feel like i will miss building after it’s done! already thinking about building a “spare” plane 🤣

I realize I'm a bit late on this, but a build series would be great. There are a few Vans build video series out there, both overview and detail, and they all go a long way into dispelling the impression that a traditional riveted aircraft is hard to do. I've been kicking around building for years, and I was leaning towards all Blind Rivet (Pop-style) because I didn't want to deal with solid rivets. Watching on builder in particular working on his RV-10 really brought in the reality that it CAN be done. The KZbin is Jason Ellis shows his mistakes as well. Couple that with the folks at Vans itself, and the builder community, and it takes what was an overwhelming prospect, and makes it doable. I'm leaning towards an 8 for myself, just because the size, performance, and configuration suit me. Good Luck Steve, and Clear Skies

I’m thinking about building a rv-12 I’m only a 13 year old and love the luxury of home built airplanes, and how airplanes work. Your videos have shown me that flying is a fun activity and that I now may become a pilot. Even though I’m 13! I’m still considering buying a building a rv-12 to fly with my mom (also a pilot) to see if she likes it more then her Rv-10 (also a homebuilt aircraft.) I love your videos! Keep up the great work!

The home building process would be a major step up for FlightChops in aviation. I am sure some viewers would see this as an opportunity to participate. I know I would. There are a lot of Vans aircraft being built near you, and the RV 10 would make an excellent platform for cross country, with baggage. A tough decision, with much commitment regardless. The guys and gals from your closest E.A.A chapter will be happy to hear from you, and most likely have some tools to share. I'm excited for you, and look forward to your next update

Great video as always, and I would love to see a build series. That being said, if what you're after the finished product rather than having a desire to build something with your hands I suggest you consider buying a used RV. Boy I really like that 4 seater...I keep changing my selection....probably like you are! Also...not a criticism...but surprised you don't use a filter for the prop effect on some of the cameras?

Yeah - the prop filters are nice - but when I am moving as fast as I am for a production like this - something has to give. It is too hard to manage that many cameras across that many flights over such a quick filming schedule.

Build one please! I have been thinking about an Rv 7 or 14 in a couple of years or the Rans S21 Outbound but leaning to more speed with the RV. It will be very educational to have your documented build as a help should I get to build one.

I own an RV-14A empennage kit and need motivation to keep working on it. There is very little high quality video of the building process. Would definitely be interested in watching you build an RV.
