I was watching AOPA's channel a while back when, at the end, there was a message about keeping GA alive. It was ironic after such a boring, poorly edited program. When I commented, they pointed me to FlyBy, their program for pilots with ADD. Really, though, if you want to attract young people, channels like this one may be the answer. Better video, better editing and better personality than AOPA. We need the AOPA for many reasons, but old people with deeper pockets drive most of GA, and that may just be the problem with recruting new pilots.

Line up is simple if you imagine wearing roller skates. No matter the aircraft size or configuration, just put your skates on both sides of the centerline like you’re guiding on a metal rail. It’s amazing how the visualization of wheels on your feet gives you instant feedback to ride that virtual rail.

Hey Chops.. nice to see these two videos.. As a first-time builder, i picked the -12 because it was the easiest/fastest to build and i didn’t want to bite off more than i could chew. I’m 75% done and i wish i went for the -9 or -14 .. not because my mission changed or i made the wrong choice, but because i know my build will be done soon and i feel like i will miss building after it’s done! already thinking about building a “spare” plane 🤣

I realize I'm a bit late on this, but a build series would be great. There are a few Vans build video series out there, both overview and detail, and they all go a long way into dispelling the impression that a traditional riveted aircraft is hard to do. I've been kicking around building for years, and I was leaning towards all Blind Rivet (Pop-style) because I didn't want to deal with solid rivets. Watching on builder in particular working on his RV-10 really brought in the reality that it CAN be done. The KZbin is Jason Ellis shows his mistakes as well. Couple that with the folks at Vans itself, and the builder community, and it takes what was an overwhelming prospect, and makes it doable. I'm leaning towards an 8 for myself, just because the size, performance, and configuration suit me. Good Luck Steve, and Clear Skies
