Join me in the flight deck as we see if a 737NG rated Captain can fly the ultimate Boeing Tri-Jet, The Classic Boeing 727-200F
In today’s stream we’re taking the FlyJSim 727 DHL Freighter and 15 tonnes of Cargo from East Midlands (EGNX/EMA) in the UK to Leipzig (EDDP/LEJ) in Germany. After a quick turnaround we’ll take the next cargo load to Salzburg (LOWS/SBG) in Austria!
As this is a Non-RNAV equipped aircraft we can only navigate conventionally so we’ll use VOR/DME navigation flying from beacon to beacon from the UK to Salzburg via Leipzig, flying procedural approaches into both airports.
Please may I ask for your patience as I attempt to conduct the role of Pilot Flying, Pilot Monitoring AND ENGINEER whilst following real world procedures as realistically as possible.

First time I tried flying the 727 was also my first emergency landing in Vatsim. Turns out it gets super wobbly when one of the engines catches fire.

Loved how IFR navigation had to be performed using first principles while flying this plane! About the Morse code, my CFII is a former US Navy pilot, and he said even he never had to learn, and does not know Morse code! By the time I got my instrument rating, the only Morse code I knew was for I (dot dot) because after flying so many practice ILS approaches, you kind of get used to hearing the dot dot as many localizer station identifiers start with an I (like I-XYZ).

Very interseting! With the ident printed on all the charts/plates it's pretty simple to ident using Morse! FD2S

Great stream! I flew one week ago with the 727 in xp 11 to LOWS aswell and I wanted to take the high speed exit at 03:07:30 too with 50 kts and the aircraft almost flipped to the left! :o Anyways enjoyed the stream!

This plane had 3 persons in the Cockpit - You did the work alone. Great Job. I don't understand why the Software progamers Cannot bring automatic the two other Cockpit members in the Simulation. Would be more like real flight and we don't have much stress. Maybe You can Chose if You want to be the Pilot, engineer or the other member.

Hi Flightdeck2sim! Great stream. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see all of it but the first leg was... “MEGA!”. Question: How much cargo do you typically carry on a flight. I know that Simbrief calculates something like 175 lbs of luggage per passenger but how much, like, other cargo do airlines typically take? Thank you and keep up the work. Thanks a lot for the kind words! We use Standard Masses at my operator, assuming one adult weights 84kg (regardless if they have a carry on bag). For a checked hold bag 13kg is assumed. FD2S
