Flint Hills Trail w/ Dad and His E-Bike Airbnb & Motel Edition Day 2 - Osage City to Osawatomie

Day 2 of our 4-day bike touring adventure along the Flint Hills Trail takes us from Osage City to Osawatomie. Traveling light this time without our camping gear, my dad is riding his new Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 Step-Thru e-bike, while I’m on my trusty, bulletproof Surly Bridge Club. We’re on a journey to ride from Council Grove to Osawatomie and back, staying at Airbnbs and motels along the way. On this leg of our bike ride, we enter the more tree-covered, lush part of the Flint Hills Trail, pedaling through farmland, alongside creeks, and past the occasional small bluff. The scenery shifts as we ride, and we even get to see a crop duster at work overhead-an unexpected highlight of the day. We stopped for a great meal at Smoked Creations in Ottawa before continuing on to our stay at the Landmark Inn in Osawatomie.

How did the routing go in Ottawa? I had to bypass up north and then come back down south.

We went completely off route when going through Ottawa to go to Smoked Creations, however I don't remember having any problems when going straight through.

@@lindenmoore so one of the last bridges over the creek must have been fixed/in-place. Now looking back in your vid, it was the last one you and your father stopped at with the benches.

There is still the short detour before you get to Ottawa. It is well established and there is signage. That section is supposed to be finished close to the end of the year. It was going to be finished soon but something about the railbed being raised, and bride footings now being too short , it is delayed. This would make the trail complete from Council Grove to Osawatomie.
