The hunter is the only one that I can tell the developers actually know how to load a musket. Most of the other games looks like the bullet fell inside the barrel of the gun as if it wasn't necesary to push it all the way down.

@@alexcarter2461i think they were using the older ones, the musket you are talking about is a breechloading musket made in the 1800s.

@RektCreate Flintlocks had flashpans to ignite the main charge, the flintlock is older than 1800, we're talking 1700s here. Also they were muzzle loaders, everything back then that shot a ball was a muzzleloader.

To properly incorporate the involved process of reloading you really have to have an active reload mechanic. Preferably with multiple steps that’s highly skill based making the reload time Barry from 15 to 60 seconds depending how good the player is. And catastrophic mistakes that aren’t noticed should risk catastrophic misfires. To make a good musket FPS you have to make reloading fun. Either by making it stressful, involved, rewarding or all three. The other important step is to make a good melee that takes up at least a third of combat.

There are some muzzle loading guns that are "self priming" meaning that the touchhole ( the tiny hole next to the pan where the priming powder should go ) is large enough that some powder poured from the muzzle goes to the pan and therefore priming it. I agree, some of these reloads aren't accurate but blackwake reloads are pretty good imo.
