I acquired a beautiful piece of Walnut and made a gorgeous stock with it. To finish the build I had to fabricate other components as well. Golden Means Flintlocks was a great source of help with this project, Thank you.
I hope you enjoy this adventure and thanks for watching.

I had no idea Miroku built flintlocks!!! I have a miroku over/under from the mid/late ‘60s, before the Browning buyout. I love that shotgun, and have a deep respect for the company.

Miroku was one of the original kit guns sold in the US during the 70's, . CVA introduced the Jukar, which I think was made in Spain,. I was like 2 years old at that time .... I'm so old, lol

Add a sheet brass butt plate to complete the rifle and you'll have a good representation of a plains trade rifle. Outstanding job using simple tools!

Aww. I would have suggested boiling and carding the barrel. But, that works. Oh, and the wife always finds out!! Somehow 🤔

I spent allot of my researching time on the stock part... the barrel never occurred to me , then I was like, "oh , I have to clean the barrel" lol. the next one will be researched on a wider scale. I think she has suspicions, i didn't get some stuff put back right.

Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I was so caught up in the project, I didn't think about getting the shooting supplies. I have never owned a flint lock, so I had no clue on what kind of flint to buy, flash pan powder, patches.. Lol when time permits I'll have to do a short video featuring the creation. Thanks again.

@@stevenmckee624 there was a little pitting going on. I cleaned it as best I could. It was fun to shoot. I haven't really shot it at any distance yet.,about 50 yards. The groups were not impressive. That could have been me though. This is the first flintlock I have ever shot. It is a different animal than the precision cap. Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch the video.

I didnt see your brothers phone number to call. Do they sell the black walnut gun stock. If so is it already shaped like the one you have. Im redoing a traditions deer hunter .50 cal flintlock and want to do it out of better wood. Can you let me know about this please. If so ill buy some more stocks from them as my muzzleloader projects continues. Thank you.

Hi Robert, they have a saw mill in Northeast Indiana. I called them one day and told them what I was looking for. They called me the next week with exactly what I wanted. It was just a slab and I cut the blank out myself. It had to be cured, but I didn't mind , I had other projects going on.The phone number is 260-251-3138. I wish you the best on your upcoming gun build and thank you for watching the video and commenting.

I applaud you for all you efforts, but you might want to studied longrifle stock architecture a little more carefully. There are many great books and videos out there to help a new builder. Recreating the American Long Rifle is a good one to help you go up to the next level. It’s all about the details.

That's a lot more "scratcher" than most will do. Old gunsmiths reused whatever they had of parts on hand, including barrels and triggerguards and locks. Try building a flintlock or rifled barrel from scratch. Re-stocking was a very common job in the 17-18 hunnerts. After the first one things improve.
