​@@lemfrl I would argue there is and it's basis lies in utilising the practices that were made for developing titles on the hardware and the limitations to come. Shovel Knight is an example of a game that put explicit detail into making the sprite work accurate to the original consoles. 16-bit and 8-bit are more just sub-genres of pixel art.

Surprisingly 8-BIT Systems could only display so many colours either at once or at all, because the colour pattern was more limited than what the human eye can perceive. Ratio, scale and general number of pixels is a little inconsistent, but I can guarantee it probably wasn't anything like this.

Yeah, Sonic Adventure is the first game that included his iconic run (If you don't count Sonic CD as an option) And it came out originally in japan in December 23, 1998, not only that but in america it also came out in September 9, 1999 while Naruto came out 12 days later, at September 21, 1999.

There’s so much wrong with this, first of all; that isn’t 8-Bit, the Original Super Mario Game was 8-bit and it looks entirely different than the one YOU made, not even the original Sonic game was eight bit, it was 16-bit, the word your looking for is pixelated. Second; Sonic doesn’t run like Naruto; he did the run back is CD, on the Sega Cd, Naruto did it in 1999. Third : That’s not pixel art, it’s pixelated art, you rotated it making it blurry and craps, and your traced over a non-pixelated art and just used a pixel pen on it.
