I think we have all been there with the "infamous spray can fail" you were way more patient than I would have been. But, I have tried the following things to some degree of success. 1. Take the tip off and throw it into the hottest water and let sit for 15 minutes. Works 8 times out of 10. 2. Switch the tip with a known working can. 7/10 3. take the tip off and clear both ends with a needle. sometimes works. 4. Send the husband to the store for a new can and take a break. Works every time! Thank you for sharing your work and your encouragement.

Hi Lauren, primer of any brand is sticky and hard to clean up so if you stop at any point, even for a few minutes you need to turn your can upside down and spay till the content comes out clear. This will extend all spray paint, especially sticky primers.

I stumbled across your channel and am glad I did.😊 I have a 1969 china cabinet made of mostly veneer over heavy composite board and some wood which I got last year for $75 ("My parents bought the best top-of-the-line set in the store and my Mum was so proud of her dining room", said the seller) and a 65+ yr old table and chairs of (HEAVY!) solid oak I bought last week for $250 ("It was the first suite of furniture my parents bought after they bought their first house." said the seller, then her 94 yr old Mum added, "I saved up for it by putting a few dollars in a cookie tin every month for 2 years and my husband surprised me because he was doing the same, so we felt like we really had something when we brought it home and set it up!" - both from FB Marketplace. Crazy thing is, they look like they are a set, even though the table and chairs from one and the buffet-hutch from the other were sold to other people before I saw either item. I want to paint them white and I have never tried painting furniture before so your videos are just great. I am more concerned about doing the proper prep than the painting, and then the right finish. I don't want it to look amateurish. Plus being that one is almost an antique and one is a vintage piece, they will require different approaches. Also, the wood filler thing is good to know. I am Canadian so not sure if I can get the same products locally, but I can show the ppl your video and get something close!😄 Thank you for being so easy to follow.

I bought a small fixer-upper townhome to live in, and only half the kitchen cabinets were there. I found some, one at a time, at the two different Restore shops near me (a few months apart), and the door patterns were slightly different each time. After doing a similar antiqued look to all of them, nobody notices that I have 4 different door patterns until I point it out! The trick was not having them sit side-by-side, two patterns are upper, two patterns are lower, and on opposite sides of the galley kitchen. I love it, and it was so cheap on my budget. At some point in the future when I sell this townhome, I won't point out the differences, but I'll listen and watch to see if they even notice!

One painting tip I use all the time when painting trim is to use a small pan and roller and roll the paint on the trim then stroke it out with the brush. This works with furniture too and really speeds up getting the paint on the surface. I'm 68 and bought a large hutch, 4 doors up and 4 down, i seperated top from bottom, took all top doors off, turned upsidedown, rebuilt the plain base to a shaped curved base, cut the top section down 8cm, added moulsings to the uprights of the top, painted it white chalk paint, added black metal handles and knobs, screwed it all together and now I have the most beautiful French wallunit. Because I live in an apartment where power tools are not allowed all sawing, cutting, sanding, drilling and screwing were done with hand tools. You can do anything, you just have to start, and if you're not sure there are many tutorials to teach you..... And the end result and satisfaction is so empowering, give it a go, you'll be so glad tou did, good luck 👷

Sometimes I have to wipe the little spray can hole or sprayer off.

Where I live (Northeast Ohio) it's always so windy that spray-painting is just about impossible. It lands everywhere BUT ... I admire your patience. I wouldn't have been able to stay calm as long as you did!

too bad you didn't make the drawers gray, just like the top

You need to run a candle or some beeswax along the drawer runners. The drawers should run much more smoothly once you've done that. You can also use a bar of soap. I'm sure there are commercial products that work too but I've never needed them. This trick can be used along the bottom or top of sliding doors too. Works a treat.

Here's how I paint furniture, doors, window frames, etc: paint with brush a section at a time, then roll over it with the small sponge rollers to get that nice smooth, even texture. Nice work!!
