It was summer when I first met her in Spain--- we were studying abroad together. We both thought love was something we weren't meant to find, but we both fell for one another all the same. No better place to fall in love, I'd say--- in all those romantic and exotic places that Europe has to offer. It sounded so damn good. And it tasted just like it should.. It was everything you could dream it to be; two picturesque young college students with nothing to lose. We were Free, and the moment was ours. The program ended in July and we said our goodbyes. Before we parted, I promised I would make it back to her and she cried. I left to work on a boat for the rest of summer and she continued to travel the rest of Europe. The entire time I was at sea, I would dream of her as I was being rocked by the waves. July was hot, and ended, and then August came. I left the boat to find her and be with her once more. At the end of August, we would meet one last time.. We made love and in that moment, she was mine. Shortly thereafter, she drifted away. A pop to our "perfect" bubble... I loved her from the start---I never wanted it to end----but now we're like strangers. I guess I was still July, and she was only meant to be my sweet August. Sometimes, Love is only meant for summer time.
