I hand launch this plane all the time, try holding onto the plane while increasing the throttle. Don't throw it until the plane feels like it's trying to leave your hand, then you toss it! Another tip for yah, the wing is fairly easy to move off center, so mark a center point on your fuselage, and wing. That way before your flight it's a quick reference to it being squared up!
@FliteTest13 жыл бұрын
@FuryCA Short grass runways are almost always best. If something is wrong, you tend to figure out before the plane lifts off, or just as it lifts.

Tip: When flying on water, just as on land sooner or later you are going to flip your plane. Get a cheap RC boat and use that to pusch your flipped aircraft back to shore.

I think hand launching is easier. Just make sure to full throttle it, and throw it smoothly and sort of fast. As long as the nose is pointed up slightly the plane will climb easily. Keep at it!

Im really happy to see Josh Scott adding his input, but could you guys do a tip on landing with normal gears. Im getting a Hellcat and im really nervous on the landings, please can you do an episode on landing and how different planes land, gear or no gear? P.S. Great episode keep it up!
@flapsnslats11 жыл бұрын
Yes, easily. Don't begin with the A5. This is also quite versatile, and offers features such as these floats that other beginning planes such as the Stratos don't offer.

You see, hand launches are quite triky. It's really easy to stall or go out of controll if you hand launch, even if someone throws it for you. Takeing off from a SHORT grass runway is always best, as long as you get plenty of speed before takeing off.

Sounds like something about the weight has changed slightly in the BNF version. I have the previous version. I always have some up elevator on takeoff or else very bad things happen. I have found that the best landings are done under power. See my videos for examples.

Been awhile but as I remember the stock rx/esc on the LP would shut off power (over voltage protection) using the 10X8 prop that came with the floats. To avoid this bleed off some battery power before going full throttle at take off with fresh battery. Now HH has the BL version with ailerons so this is pretty dated info. You never know.

Tried an intermediate seaplane as my 1st try.. Bad idea. Lots of crashes and canoe trips to get it back. I'm thinking of the Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S+ 1.3M RC Airplane BL RTF with Safe & GPS as a better 1st flight trainer. We vacation on the calm part of a river so a seaplane is a must. Do you recommend this plane and will the auto land functionality work ok on the water?

I'm doing a scratch build and i need to know if this set up would work it's a 1700kv motor with a 12 amp esc and a 900mah battery
@31006208426 жыл бұрын
Moid Afzak setup depends on the propeller, and max amps of the motor. I always give minimum 5A extra on the esc (like using a 25A esc for a motor that draws MAXIMUM 20A). The battery needs to be able to handle the power draw. As long as the esc handles extra amps, and the battery can handle supplying the amps, your setup should work.

Hey guys, I bought this plane because i am new to flying. On my first two flights i crashed, and i think it is because we hand launched it. So my question is, is it easier to use a short grass runway or hand launch when learning? -Thanks

I have super cub with floats, had throttle all the way up and could not lift off of the water. I was running perfectly straight and there was no wind at all. I did put on the larger prop, and I have had this plane flying numerous times off of land. I don't understand what is going on. Can you help me?
@jeffcrawford65208 жыл бұрын
the plane will "stick" to calm water as you found out. Flying into the wind with a slight ripple in the water is better. Some will even drive in circles to create waves then take off across them in a straight line. This breaks the surface tension. I learned from a real seaplane pilot that they sometimes lift one wing to pull that pontoon up then lift the other wing and youre off flying. a little down elevator just before pulling back can give a little extra bounce to separate the plane from the water.

The A5 is a 4 channel plane, good if you are a little experienced, but not something to start on. While the A5 is pretty good, beginners should use this (Super Cub) for beginning tidal take offs or landings. Plus, the A5 is in a different category (4 channel) while Super Cub is beginner 3 channel
