Float Fishing for Bluegills and Crappie with Gulp Minnows and Worms

I'm out float fishing for bluegills and crappie. Will the artificial Gulp Minnows catch as many fish as the worms? Before I get started with the fishing, I go over how to set up a slip bobber. After catching a few nice bluegills on the Gulp Minnow, I try the worm to see what I can catch. I manage to catch a red ear sunfish on the worm and not the minnow. However, when I switch back to the Gulp, I catch a beautiful 11 inch crappie! I was surprised to catch the crappie on the gulp and the sunfish on the worm. And of course, I caught bluegills on both. I like the Gulp Minnow because it stays on the hook longer. So weather you are float fishing with worms or Gulp Minnows, now is a great time to get out and catch those crappies and bluegills.

18:17 Very nice! Outstanding! My state absolutely doesn't care about catch and release for crappie and bluegill so that's what I fished as a little kid. Love seeing you fish a float for panfish. This was really fun and motivational. I've got light rod and reel setups just for this. Great video! Thanks!

I got a slip bobber and wasn't sure how to use it, I was putting the bobber stop under the bobber. lol. I looked through some of your old videos and learned how to do it properly thanks to this video. Thanks, Alex!

I'm gonna have to try those gulp minnows sometime. Don't get me wrong, nightcrawlers do very well for bluegill, but they are so darn messy and require extra care if you don't use all of an. The fact that gulp minnows stay preserved inside the jar is nice. Something that you can keep in your tacklebox and not have to worry about spoiling. And looks like you don't have to do anything too much in terms of retrieving, which is a plus. I looked for some at wal mart the other day but they didn't have any, darn it.

The reward is to the "Hardcore". One day I was fishing a small lake, it started raining moderately heavy, other fishermen took shelter in their vehicles, I just threw on my rain gear, and caught a 3 lb bass on a top water frog. That was a very nice crappie you caught, and those were about the prettiest bluegill I've seen.

Remove your spool from reel and run hot water over the spool for a few seconds and it will set the memory and eliminate line twist.

You should try Waxworms, if they are sold in your area. That’s my go-to for panfish, and they are not nearly as messy as night crawlers, and are tougher than they look. Bluegills love them. Great video BTW.

Realistic Fishing I’ve only got two bait shops handling them in my area, and they run out periodically. I keep three containers in my refrigerator so I have them when I want them. They will last at least two to three weeks if you keep them cool. I regularly catch 30 to 35 bluegill in the 1 to 1/2 pound range, and then cull them down to a dozen or so for a meal for my wife and me.

Looked fun it's always a good day when you catch some fish and don't catch a cast net or get taunted by a man in a boat I went to a small lake and I guess people don't care about their lures because about 5 feet out in a tree I waded just to my knees and got a nice prop bait a booyah spinner bait and a brand new lunker hunt frog. Manually Close The Bail The number one cause of spinning tackle loops is when an angler reels to close the bail. Doing so closes the bail but doesn't ensure the line is in the roller guide. If the line isn't in the roller guide and there is any slack, it will loop the next time it's reeled up.

Any time you can catch a crappie like that, it's a great day. Folks up at the like have been catching them by the stringerful and some even bucketful of 9-12 inch crappie, few guys have managed to catch some 13 and 14 inchers. One guy caught one that was just 1/8 why of EIGHTEEN!! inches. Saw the picture of it, it was a monster. I tried going after some the past week, and caught just a few dinky bluegill last Monday and Tuesday. Highlight of those days was a 2lb catfish. I just can't get into any crappie to save my life. It's been 4 years since my last crappie. An 11 incher similar to that one, except it had the yellow-gold with black specks like that of a black crappie. Was a pretty fish. I would give an arm and a leg to get into a crappie or a bass big enough to warrant a measuring right now.
