It is always a joy to watch your skills at work and an encouragement for me to try more complicated projects.

Outstanding demonstration. I’ve always wondered how things like that were done. Maybe in time I’ll even try something like that. Thanks you for sharing.

Thanks Kuffy! The apron is pretty much done, and there will be no legs, and just screwed in to the wall. The top is really going to be the main attraction on this piece.

I have used the "bricking" technique before to save wood but never knew it was a technique. lol You gave me a lot of ideas for the future. Thank you for the time you have spend to provide a classy video for us to watch. I do have one question though. Why did you use hide glue over a pva/tightbond glue?
@GuysShop6 жыл бұрын
I used it on the end grain glue up of the apron just because I trust it more on end grain. No proof it's better, I just thinks so. And when I glued it on, it makes it easier to clean up around the edge. Actually I use hide glue 99% of the time.

Super cool! I like the brick work, seems easier and more stable than a bent lamination. Why did you choose this particular method over a bent lamination? Cant wait to see the finished piece!
@GuysShop6 жыл бұрын
Just another way of showing how to do it. The bricking method is also a traditional way of making this type of table.

Real inspiration Guy, I must have a go at some veneer work. One question, why the climb cut for the first pace with the circle jig?
@sunchipism5 жыл бұрын
climb cuts when well controlled with leave a cleaner top edge, free from fibres and tearout

Nice job as always Guy. What sort is that little apron plane? 6:30 It looks very like a Quang Sheng Luban one that I have. Aren't they a joy to use? I think this video is unique, I see many excellent video's well made showing excellent work and there are always a couple of thumbs down, I never understand why. At the time of writing this has 120 ups and no downs yayyyyy!There's hope for the world yet!
@GuysShop6 жыл бұрын
HaHa. Thanks Graham! The plane is a Lie Nielsen. I think it's a 102? My favorite hand plane. And trust me, there will be some thumbs down sooner or later on this video. You can't please everyone, and I stopped trying a long time ago! Thanks for watching!
@GrahamOrm6 жыл бұрын
It looks identical to my own which is Chinese, you may have heard of Wood River?They come out of the same factory and are knock offs of LN. Made to a high standard and I would dare to say as good as LN. Of course LN are copies of the original Stanleys so no harm done!! Keep up the good work. Quality ;-)

Fascinating!! Thank you so much for sharing, Guy. Appreciate it. (Maybe I CAN do this, some day...) Hey, are you liking the combo machine? Never feels akward having "flip" stations, from jointer to planer? I ask because it's always struck me as an extremly practical way to own/maintain both machines - to say nothing of getting a honking wide jointer! :-)
@GuysShop6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave! I really like the machine. Takes up less floor space, and a 12" jointer too boot! Changing it over is easy and not a hindrance at all.
