I Grew Up On The Gildersleeve Logging Float Camp When Both 'Uncle Murray' And Roger Ran It- So Many Memories Beginning At Dry Pass And Ending At Big Salt. I Was Blown Away To Find This Video- I Saw Our House, The Spiral Slide My Brothers And I Used To Play On, The Falcon, And The Church/Gym Where We Had So Many Potlucks, Services And Plays- A Life That Doesn't Exist Anymore And Is Now Part Of Alaska Lore. Feel So Blessed I Experienced This Extraordinary Life.

It was amazing to see my grandparents, Aunt, Uncle, Great Uncle and some baby cousins on here. Even if this is long before my time. Camp looked a lot different when I was raised in it 😊 Had no idea this existed. What a treasure!

I visited the Gildersleeve camp for camp meeting, at age 10, and my brother and I were baptized there. The floating camp where we had lived did not have church, school, or store. We hiked to the neighboring land-based camp for school, and held church in the boss's house at T&H Logging. Our groceries came from Ketchikan by boat. By the time of our visit to Gildersleeves', we had relocated to the land-based camp.
