I catch a train to the beautiful riverside and canalside Wiltshire town of Bradford-on-Avon to look at the Floating Market and a look around the town at Christmastime. #canal #christmas #wiltshire

I loved the Canal Trust notice to dogs at the beginning- never seen a notice like that before. I have been to Bradford-on- Avon- only once. We walked round the town & then walked along the canal. There was a wide towpath and loads of bikers - not together- not seen so many before. Thanks , it made me feel very Christmassy- taking this opportunity to wish you and your family a Very Happy Christmas- hope you have a lovely time!🎄

Hi Diana! Yes, it is a really lovely town. I enjoyed walking around the town and by the narrowboats selling there wares there. I did pick up a couple of Christmas gifts there too! Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments throughout 2024 Diana, and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too! Paul

Thank you Louise! Yes, Bradford on Avon is indeed a beautiful place - one of my favourites, and so easily accessible by train. The Floating Fayre was really good. Glad you enjoyed the video. I have one final 'Christmas on Westcountry Wanderings' video to go out before the big day. Take care, Paul

Thank you Michael. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I really like it, and I think the restoration of the Kennet & Avon Canal has benefitted the town a lot. Take care, Paul

Wonderful old former industrial town. I think there is a bridge over the Avon by Abbey Mill, which I crossed, when I last visited. My first visit was around 1980 when the canal lay abandoned and overgrown. Reopening has seen a transformation of a kind which hopefully, will also be witnessed in towns like Stroud, once the Stroudwater/T&S canal is fully navigable. Thank you!

Thank you Malcolm! Yes, I do hope it (Cotswold Canals) can revive Stroud's fortunes when it is opened. I will be following the restoration as we go through 2025 - I think it will be a busy year. Merry Christmas. Paul

A lovely video thank you Paul. Bradford on Avon is very pretty, a nice event. P.S. l completed the Cotswold Way this week very pleased with myself! Happy Christmas Paul & thank you for what you do it is so enjoyable. Jan

Firstly, and most importantly, many congratulations on completing the Cotswold Way! You have every right to feel pleased with that significant achievement. It is a wonderful walk, isn't it? I hope the weather was kind when you were walking the sections that you did. I have had to put the Geo Park Way walk temporarily on hold due to very boggy and damp terrain at the moment - hopefully I can return to it towards the end of January. Yes, I really like Bradford on Avon, one of my favourite places, and convenient to get to on the train, as the traffic around there can be horrendous. A Very Merry Christmas to you too Jan, and thank you for all your comments. Paul

This looks nice. I didn't know they had a fayre on the canal. Was this last weekend as we very nearly went to Bradford on Saturday but we ended up in Chipping Sodbury & Marshfield instead? 😊
@westcountrywanderingsАй бұрын
Hi Martin. Yes, this was recorded on the 30th November, not last weekend. I don't always put out videos in the order that they were filmed. I do like both of those places that you went to though! My aunt used to live in Chipping Sodbury, and I have many happy memories of it. Marshfield was one of my earliest Cotswold wanders on the channel - it is a Cotswold place that seems to have a lower profile of the other Cotswold towns. I really like it there too. Take care, Paul

@@westcountrywanderings Hi Paul. We would of loved to have been in Bradford for this little Christmas market. Yes we also love Chipping Sodbury & Marshfield. Its funny how all the tourists head for Castle Coombe & Lacock which are both lovely places & completely miss other lovely places nearby.
