There is some hope for the family of 23 year old Samuel Sangma and his cousin Rosy Sangma who died under mysterious circumstances in Gurgram, Haryana. Several leaders in Meghalaya have not only condemned the shocking deaths of the two Nagaland residents in Harayana, many have come forward to help the bereaved family.
The Champu Khangpok village was struck off the electoral records in the 1980s; years later its residents were declared encroachers, a tag they continue to hold to this day.
But Champu Khangpok is no ordinary village. It may not be present on paper but it continues to float - quite literally.
Deven Singh and the 300 odd residents of this floating village live in temporary and fragile huts that do not rest on solid earth. They stand delicately on four to ten feet thick spongy mats of aquatic plants, organic debris and soil, called phumdis, in the middle of the largest freshwater lake in the Northeast Region, the Loktak Lake.
The states of North Eastern Region are officially recognised under the North Eastern Council , constituted in 1971 as the acting agency for the development of the north eastern states. Long after induction of NEC, Sikkim formed part of the North Eastern Region as the eighth state in 2002.[4][5] India's Look-East connectivity projects connect Northeast India to East Asia and ASEAN. Guwahati city in Assam is called the Gateway to the North East and is the largest metropolis in North East India.

In the year 2017 our office District Handloom & Textile Office ,Bishnupur under Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles conducted National Handloom Census 2017 in this village. A lovely village. Our staff stayed there for 4 days. Our staff entered from Moirang side after taking village list from Revenue Department , Bishnupur
