Blackberry combined with ripe pear is a perfect balance, like lemon with blueberry. The only thing I do different with my crumble as compared to what you do is I will add from 1/3 to 1/2 oats to one part flour you can do as much as 50-50 split, but I don’t. 1/3 to 1/2 does it for me. Lovely video! Thank you.
@maobfh5 ай бұрын
I said that wrong. Was commenting with voice recognition while driving. DOH!!! Some people will use as much as one part oats to 1 part flour but I prefer ~ 1/2 O to 1 F. No oats has served you well, all this time. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!

Good to have you back, healthy and happy! If you think it's a good idea, I'd love a walk through your "boat-garden" at some point, those tall pots either side of the bow doors look amazing. Tips on what/how/where to grow, along with successes and failures would be interesting. Have you seen Vanessa's (The Mindful Narrowboat) wild garden growing on her stern fender? Thanks for bringing some of the English summer into my world. Liz 🙏🐞🐝🍄🦋 PS. I love the minimalist title.

Ah, this took me on a real trip down memory lane! I spent a lot of my childhood in Lowsonford, and we loved playing by the canal and in the fields round the village. I remember one memorable adventure when we paddled an inflatable boat down the canal, and a real treat was to walk down to the Fleur de Lys pub for one of their famous pies - my mouth is watering remembering them! My mum spent most of her retirement living in a beautiful flat right by the canal in Lapworth, next to a lock, and she loved watching the boats from her armchair; much better than tv!

Lovely barrel roof canal cottage, i think unique to this area. Agree with you about ticks this year, as i got Lyme back in May, from my paddock, where a Deer had been grazing. Now have Lyme , which was treated for 6 weeks , but can re occur. Dogs also get wheat and grass husks inside the ear drums, so i put olive Oil in the ears before walking in long grass, it sstops them from sticking to inner ears. I do this with my 7 cats too. Yum Yum, your crumble looked amazing. I could almost smell it cooking. Thank you for a lovely vlog, as usual.

Hi guys! Top tip for blackberrying: Take a walking stick, for hooking those 'just out of reach' big ones. It can also be used to push brambles out of the way, for better access. I don't bother cooking the fruit first. Chuck it all in, with a couple of tablespoons of sugar on top. Job's a good 'un. Fruit doesn't take long to cook. All the best.

Oh no! Hope you’re feeling much better now, all those blackberries will provide lots of nutrients to help heal you all. I haven’t made blackberry, elderberry or chokecherry jelly in many years but I’ve been craving them lately. It’s hard to find them wild anymore now though . They used herbicides along the roadways for so many years it killed them all off which is sad. We have a very few blackberry bushes around the garden but the birds usually get to them before I find them ripe and get drunk. 😂 Take care, hope you don’t have any more illness this year. 🥰🙋🏼♀️
