You have to consider first what other investment alternative would give you over 30%, then what amount of risk is your principal facing? It's better to receive your 15%+ in peace with principal intact, than to venture into something dangerous. That is the pure head to head reality, because even with most businesses first your capital is at risk and returns are not guaranteed. US bonds now are hovering 4% while inflation is reported at 3% so effectively making 1%...you would need 1 million USD to make 10K!!!! do you have that amount?
@adstix6 ай бұрын
I like the US Bonds analogy! In other words, $1m only provides a ridiculous monthly yield of about $833. Better off investing in a rental property for a more sensible ROI.

People that are in Nigeria and don’t have access to other platform to invest abroad should invest in Nigeria. However, if you are abroad in a more stable economy, I will advise investing in where you live. Note: investing is a long term commitment. Personally I buy ETFs and is planning to hold it for a long run. My vanguard global all cap is now 14% . I will keep putting money away and that is what matters. Slow and steady

****Inflation chips away at the purchasing power of your money. Investing to earn interest helps to stabilize your purchasing power, not at 100%. Fear of investing is not an isolated case, every invester hides these case on a hidden shelf. We must invest in our country, this is the only way to raise her up. if we the children of nigeria refuse to raise her up, who is going to do it. foreigner ?. I dont think so.

My Aunty Flo, Greetings from East Africa. We love you. My humble opinion, Look at it this way, It is all by design. Nigeria still remains the BIG BROTHER for all Africa Countries. When something happens in Nigeria, it's happening or it will happen to his/her brothers & sisters( other countries) It's just a matter of time when it will be at it's pick. Same to dollar. It's all by design.

Are they not suppose to drop interest rates to just beat the high inflation? By reducing interest rate, they allow companies and businesses borrow money at a lower rate, which helps their business, probably create more work, which will make things cheaper and drop inflation. Or am I wrong?

Few years ago China wanted cassava from us Nigerian youth can aggregate and form cooperatives for production , thanks. 🙏

Nne the Nigerian economic space is very volatile and not worth. 15% on capital, just like fixed deposit, in 365 days is pure bukum. I repeat i won't try it. Even if you like invest more, the percentage remains thesame. The only thing FGN bonds will do for you is to help fight the effect of inflation on your capital, that is to help retain the value of your capital. Hoarding the dollar may not be an investment, but it will do you more good in protecting the value of your money. Why not talk about FGN euro bonds?
@FloFinance6 ай бұрын
Chuka there's nothing to talk about. FGN suspended Eurobond for 2 years now. The only dollar denominated investments are Dollar funds offered by banks. I mentioned one of them in this video. They are better than this okorie HODLing you are doing. At least they pay 5%. My principle is: always make sure your money is not sitting idle. Just like buying a non-dividend paying stock. Why?

You're right Aunty Flo. One can live comfortably with #200,000 naira salary monthly and even employ a maid and driver compare to someone earning 2000 pounds in UK. This is the reality but most people are just so shallow minded when it comes to financial education and they are so obsessed with not seeing anything good about their country Nigeria.

Employ a maid and driver with 200K salary in Nigeria? Nah 😂 I see this comparison flying around online. No way these two people are on the same level. My use of 200K was for illustration purposes.
@shollz4656 ай бұрын
@@FloFinance The salary range of a driver in Nigeria is between 50 to 70 thousand naira, infact some earn as low as 30 thousand which is equivalent to some state government workers salary which I know and same goes for maid. Its just a matter of cutting your clothes according to your size. I live in Dubai but invest only in Nigerian dividend stocks, Real Estate (houses and land) and Tbills or any good low and mid risk investment which could generate constant cash flow and I have never for once regret any of my decisions till date. Cash flo is the key just like your name. Thanks for inspiring and encouraging people like us even more when it comes to investing in Nigeria. Cheers!

so I have an analogy, very Simple but It's long term and I know that's what most people don't want to hear So keyword is commercial papers If you do a 90 day CP investment of 6% real returns you do It 3 times a year or If you are Lucky and The stars allign, 4 times that's 18-24% Now if you compound It for 4 years And do your backward calculations you would have Beat inflation at 25% average inflation rate for those 4 yrs And it's always better to opt for the shorter 90day terms than the 270days longer terms cause it gives you a better opportunity to compound For instance the difference between 6% compounded 3 times a year vs 25% p/a prorated to 270days is close to 2% in favor of the 90days compounded But again No one wants to hear compounding or long form investing that's why people keep falling for Short term forex traders hook, bait and switch Scams with unrealistic returns that's my submission flo
