Flood Prevention: Disconnect Downspouts

One of the easiest ways to reduce the chance of getting water in your basement from heavy rainfall is to disconnect the downspouts on your home from the sewer system. Oak Park Plumbing Inspector Jim Dee demonstrates how it's done.

Our village made all the residents disconnect there underground downspouts,about 20 years ago. And after having 2 major floods in the last 2 years,it's best thing they ever did.
