Flooded Tesla large performance drive unit

Tesla Perfomance large drive unit. Cleaned and being prepared for testing only to find was full of water. Very sad site.

Woowww there was a LOT of water... poor Mosfets and logic board... busbar just needs a wire brush it’s all good. That large drive unit looks very new, looks newer than mine from September 2016. I’m keen on your custom Logic Board solution, I just emailed you guys, let me know.

Rich rebuilds got a Tesla that was under water op to its side mirrors for 10 days and it had less water in the motor than that!

Johan Smith there was fare more water than that. Looks like salt water and must of cone in through the top breather.

You'd think they would completely seal the motors these days...

They are well sealed but think this one sat in water for some time

flood water or coolant? I’ve read that these Large Drive Units are prone to having coolant leak into them.

The igbt boards where ok but the logic board and connectors where very bad.

@@Hazell_Nutz How do I know if my igbt are safe or not? Is there a way? My mechanic says they are no longer good.. I would like to know if my mechanic wants to scam me to keep my engine..

jake goakes we don’t know we did not expect it to be full of water. Looks like salt water and found quite a lot of sand inside. There very well sealed so must of been under for a wile or been under deep enough to reach the breather outlet in the top of the casing.

jake goakes will strip apart then probably lighten it for test fitting in conversion.
