I have been doing this business for a long, long time. I deal in numerous items, from A to Z, never had a major problem, but, I have numerous collectors who don’t even look at E-bay, I do shows, sell to malls, I do overseas venue’s. If it doesn’t work one way, I try another, and another, and another way. Anyway, keep plugging away, I will not do a E-bay store, too much hassle. Good Luck 👍

I listed an expensive WWII walkie talkie for $ 350, there were no views or watchers after 3 days and I did a search and mine would not come up. So I added it as a "promoted" listing and it sold right away, but "promoted" is another 11% fee on top of the 13-14% fee, so 25% was taken away because of an ebay glitch. I learned my lesson and after 26 yr's as a PT seller I'm done with ebay and will look at other avenues to sell.

Omg, I didn’t think this was happening to me until I checked half way through this video. I have 218 active listings on my “seller’s” page. When I go to my “shop” tab of my storefront and “filter” (all items and buy it now) to make it populate a number at the bottom, it says 139 for both categories. Went back to seller hub and went to filter out my active listings and the “buy it now” tab says 218. I’m so upset. Thank you for alerting us. Missing 79 items for a small seller like me is a BIG deal. I get if items have been listed awhile and they no longer end up on the algorithm’s search pages, but they should at least be showing up in my store. This should be more widely discussed. I've been getting dinged for violations all of a sudden as well. One I wanted to argue was a bottle that still had the contents. About 100 years old. They said it was alcohol because it was a flask style bottle. I told them it was flavoring. They said cool, it's not alcohol but you can't sell the bottle unless I pour out the contents. I asked why and they said it was an expired food item. I said it was 100 years old. Nobody is going to drink it. Didn't matter. Okay, fine. Whatever you say.

Your shelves look amazing with all those toys on them and hopefully, you are fully up and running again after the big move. I have never been hit with any violations from eBay 'Yet' touch wood, but I got my first chargeback about 2 months ago, eBay did cover me as the person did have the item as proof showed that they had got it with a photo & tracking. I see glitches every week on eBay and it seems that they are never fixed. eBay these days is nothing like the company I joined 16 years ago, and it still seems to be getting worse by the week. It’s a joke when customers can’t read a description let alone a title and then want to return items and it takes 2-3x the work to not make any money or lose money on shipping and eBay sides with the customer every time

EBay throws up so much other junk around our descriptions that the Buyer has a hard time even finding the actual description (e.g. "Customers also bought", "You may also like",...)

But every time I watch one of your videos, I remember why I stopped. eBay was tough to deal with in 2012. It sounds like it's a living hell now. What platform would you recommend, that have sales? I left ebay several months ago to pivot my business in a different direction. I sold my last ebay item on New Year's Eve. I cannot tell you the relief of not having to worry about these things anymore. It just wasn't worth the aggravation. Obviously, I had a smaller store, but left and every once in a while, I look to see if these things are still happening. boy am I glad I left.

We sell paper items in Collectibles. eBay recently started charging two transaction fees and double shipping when items with accepted offers are combined with items in the cart (items with no offer) on the final invoice. They used to be combined and our combined shipping rate was applied. Not any more. The customer pays once, so one transaction, but pays double shipping. Then we are charged two non-refundable 30 cent transaction fees. We ship the items together because the customer only paid once so they expect that. So we have to go through the hassle of partially refunding the customer for excess shipping. But eBay keeps both 30 cent transaction fees.

Like you, I've been using Ebay since the beginning. I used to do 100% of by reselling on Ebay. Now, Ebay accounts for less than 5% of my sales. There are a lot of alternatives out there that are simply better. The last straw for me was when my listings were not showing up in searches because the premium promoted listings were being pushed to the top ane mine were being filtered out. Ebay has become an unwieldy mess.

And the one that has haunted me for years is the item that sells months ago and somehow gets relisted and sold again. Hi Don, one thing that started happening to me a few months ago is that if I list anything military, mainly photos in my case, ebay puts at least a 24 hour review hold on all of these listings whether they are new listings or ended and sell similar. I spoke to several reps about this and it wasn't until I spoke to the 5th one that actually took the time to ask me for the item number of one of these listings that they said yes that these are under at least a 24 hour review prior to being released and listed in my store. This is so annoying.

I tried to sell a few items that my Mother collected from the movie Gone With the Wind. I was told the items violated the code for racism. I told eBay that I searched for the exact same item and hit the sell a similar tab and let their AI create the description for me. They didn't care and the items were removed. I also have been using eBay for years and never had an issue until all this DEI invaded corporations.

Because of a few infractions ebay decided to take down about of our items. That was about 400 to 500 items. They sent the items to our e-mails. We took the items and put them in a file. After a few months ebay said we'd been good so we could put them back. However when we tried the pictures were gone, so now what do we do. We have the pictures on our iphone but to go through the items and match them will take forever. Their reason for taking them off was because we wern't selling enough. That doesn't make sence to me.

FYI, I have experimented with getting rid of offers. I picked two niches. So far my sales haven't been different without offers on those two niches. My sale overall are down 75% from last year, but since I got rid of offers on those two niches my sales in those two niches hasn't gone down at all. I plan on experimenting with other niches later. I usually check sales comps before I list an item, find multiple that have sold, then list an identical item. Ebay takes my item down because it 'violates their policies'. Am I to understand that the other identical items already sold didn't violate the policy? I personally think Ebay's AI just grabs stuff at random and calls it a 'violation'.

The thing that’s getting on my nerves is eBay seems to be moving in a direction of no longer having any seller customer support at all. I had an issue come up and they never responded to my emails. It took me over a week to even get a rep to chat with. When I called I never got an answer. Calculator batteries that might be in a calculator??? But watches that contain smaller batteries are okay??? What about legos for example???

One thing that REALLY SCREWED ME was - You used to be able to sell VINTAGE perfumes as "ANTIQUES" (not for actual USE) . That was great! I did really well with vintage perfumes ! Then they made a new rule : NO USED PERFUMES AT ALL,. No matter what. Sucks because Vintage Perfumes are pretty easy to find and many sellers ONLY know high end like Dior and Chanel.

I think Don knows eBay's policies better than most of the phone reps. I don't know the policies very well but whenever I have looked then up and called them out because they are wrong, it just goes now where, you might as well just forget it. I wish there was a platform that had the wide exposure that eBay has but with good seller support. It's tough to pay them all of these fees and they constantly find a reason that to NOT back you up, pull down listings that are fine and delete stuff that was damn well posted. One day its there and the next day, gone because yes eBay is glitchy as hell.

I got a policy violation on a listing, but when I went to the listing it didn’t violate any policy. There’s a glaring red policy violation still showing up on my account, but eBay is saying that they don’t know what happened. The listing is saying that it was removed, but the policy violation is saying that the listing is still active. I tried to delete the listing, but it doesn’t allow me. It has to be a glitch.

Honestly ebay is the best place I've found to sell coins. They are really hard to sell local. Shops of course won't offer you hardly anything. Atleast with ebay you've got thousands of eyes. I'd just recommend giving good deals because if you'd go to a coin show or what not your going to end up wheelin n dealin there as well.

They have ebay platforms in so many countries with different legal rules. I think this might be gotten to complicated. In my country the goverment made them to collect data for each seller (selling is free) for tax and checking if they run a business and are not allowd to do so.

I decided to try promoted listings. I applied to all of my items. The result.....my store died 😂 I ended up removing promote, but had to remove manually item by item. Fortunately, i only have around 800 items. I used to have sales almost daily, now I am lucky to get few sales a week. 2yr seller here... I just had a non-prescription knee brace pulled down by ebay/AI... for being a prescription item violation... I've sold dozens over them over the years and there are at least 20 active today... There's nobody to talk to anymore🤷🏻‍♂🤷🏻‍♂... Last year I had a similar item taken down last year when I could contact them and it was approved to relist... and pulled down, approved, pulled down... etc.....FIVE TIMES in 3wks !!!! Even after Trust and Safety approved it. 🤦🏻‍♂🤦🏻‍♂🤷🏻‍♂🤷🏻‍♂ FINALY it was approved and did stay up until sold ...

EBay is implementing a 3-4 year strategy moving away from lower ASP items (i.e. below $200) as they are being crushed by competitors like Temu and Shien. We already see the evidence of the first steps with the emphasis of eBay motors with high ASP. For those sellers whose items average ASP's below $100 you need to plan your migration (exit) strategy starting YESTERDAY.

Well, clearly, Ebay needs both buyers and sellers. Let's be realistic and see that Ebay is a mature platform, no longer in its wild west days of growth. Its activities are under the scrutiny of government and big corporations. As a result, more restrictions are being applied to buyers and sellers. What makes it hard for resellers is that the rules are not very clear and easy to comply with and always seem to be changing. This is why sellers with long tenure on the platform and a history of following the rules and treating customers right are losing their accounts. This is no way to run a business.

eBay let some staff go, they weak in terms of how they upgrade systems as break other things when they change things. Even Mercari seems simplified as antiqued as eBay keeps staying. The Vero stuff drives me crazy. Some companies treat there product like termination seeds. It wasn’t your ever even though paid cash for it. Wrong for me and will never buy the companies products and will encourage others to never buy their products. Had a food company Optiva treat their food like you need a “coach” to prescribe the food to you. Their food is ultra processed, it’s far from health food.

Ebay is making itself irrelevant. Almost no appeal to the younger generation alone is going to kill Ebay. No advertising except ebay motors. It Is the most complicated of all platforms to post items. Search engine sucks. Now they want sellers to pay for Google ads on top of promoted listings. Raising all fees all the time is not sustainable. Losing buyers and sellers every quarter. Other platforms have issues but at least Poshmark, Mercari and Marketplace are easier to list on which is appealing to a lot of new especially younger sellers who think Ebay is dads or grand dads platform. Ebay is on the path to be like Tower Records, Circuit City, Kmart and the rest but in this case Ebay will be the first major Ecommerce site to be a past conversation.

I sell gun parts on eBay. I had an Item taken down because it DID NOT violate eBay policy but "it could be confused with other items that may violate policy" - you can't make this shit up

ebay has far more sellers and items than buyers at this point. sellers are disposable to them. their game is to limit sellers visibility/sales by orchestrating "glitches", hiding listings and so on.

Seems like all the decent sellers are moving off ebay letting the dodgy sellers in their place, now makes sense why i do not trust ebay any more as the decent sellers have moved on to amazon or alternatives.
