There's a roadside drain in my area, that doesn't drain at all, meaning every time it rains, half the width of the street is inches deep in water. It's been reported numerous times, but it never gets pumped out.

Perhaps if they pumped the trash out of the grids, in the gutters. I've lost count of the number of grids in my area, that don't drain, leading to water covering half the width of the road, for a day or more after the rain stops.

It was a mill with shops, and the car park not tarmaced so could drain. Converted to flats, cut corners and did not put drainage in when tarmaced the car park. Everyone who saw it with any thought, could see the risk as set up as a pool area!! Other places yes council will not do basics such as kerp drains clear, of general, rubbish and autumn leaves!!

Too many cars and people using a system for 50 years ago, and people being allowed to pave over gardens etc to park, which means more flooding where earth removed, but hey lets build more houses, there are limits for people but the politicians don't know that.

In England, people used to have nice gardens...but I've noticed 3rd worlders like to pave over them to create driveways...so now the excess water has nowhere to go (no extra drainage)..also, when the English built the drainage system, there were a lot less people here..clogging it up with fat and grease is also a big issue..

The consequences are labour own fault for still not reversing the environmental agency agenda, , water companies must be held accountable for not cleaning drains and sewer systems. How many more floods does it take for the government to stop building on flood plains and getting tough with water companies who put shareholder ahead of maintenance, as well as getting tough with the 3rd party repair companies whos leaks start almost immediately after repairs.
