I watch my lad load up his car with more tackle than I've ever owned, goes to a carp puddle and catches what looks like the same fish over and over. I fished the river Dove at Scropton, just outside of Uttoxeter. Ruck sack with bait, reel, and terminal tackle, rod holdall with a couple of bank sticks and a chair. Barbel in the morning, chub in the afternoon. Proper fishing.

Blimey John that's great to hear? I fish the Dove at Martson, not had a Barbel yet this season. I was convinced the otters had had them. Now I know there all hanging around Scropton area.😂😂

Can i ask why you loop the hook back to go through the pva when it's attached to the lead clip?

Hi Matthew, That's a great question and one which i should of made clearer in the video. The reason is so I can fish with a long hooklink and be able to cast with bankside overgrowth behind me, hope this makes sense and please accept my apologies for the late reply.

Fantastic angling, I see to many videos dragging barbel in , not being played properly, being disrespectful to their quarry, I’d love to see u do a video on the Trent sometime ?

Lot to be said for “dragging them” in if they are not played for too long they will be less exhausted and go back stronger. If you are using correct tackle you don’t need to play them for extended time
