Floor Jansen is the third and present singer of the Symphonic Metal band Nightwish and considered the best and most versatile female singer of our time. I am a Flooraholic from Utrecht, The Netherlands and here is some background information on our Dutch Valkyrie Queen. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of this. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. September 2012 came the call from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the American Tour as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour ('Please learn the setlist in 48 hours'). The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating in the iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival. It was obvious that the combination Nightwish and Floor Jansen was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band in 2013 as the relationship with Annette and the band was strained even before she became ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp' for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so Revamp disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZbin. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe, watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa'. And to see her in full opera mode watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZbin in the last year and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses and so much more. Also her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. Floorgasm alert! Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band 'Sabaton'); daughter Freja (just turned 4 years); a horse and pony; a dog and 3 cats, she found this.

Beste Zangers is a Dutch TV show (where Floor is originally from) and this episode is a special, celebrating that The Netherlands is host of this year's Eurovision song contest. Floor was recovering from surgery and not able to fly so she did her part from her studio on her little farm in Sweden where she lives. NOW-- May I extremely strongly suggest you listen to her work with Nightwish. For starters, the beyond-incredible Ghost Love Score (do the live version from the Wacken Music Festival, 2013, in front of 82,000 Nightwish fans.) It's a superb introduction to Floor, Nightwish, and symphonic metal, which is something that is finally taking off in North America.

You've met our Valkyrie Queen! As you have been told, Floor Jansen is - quite literally - the best female singer in the world. There is no genre she cannot effortlessly own. This particular performance was for the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, in which successful singers perform for each other. Floor was on that show in 2019 and was asked back for this special celebrating the Netherlands hosting the Eurovision song contest. The song "Euphoria" was a winning Eurovision performance by Swedish artist Loreen in 2012. Floor is literally recovering form surgery to remove her gallbladder and so couldn't travel. She was connected live to the Beste Zangers set from her (and her husbands) recording studio in the barn of their farm in Sweden. Floors day job since 2013 has been as lead singer of toweringly magnificent band Nightwish. You NEED to react to Nightwish. Trust me.

Welcome to a new world, a world that has Floor Jansen in it, the woman we lovingly call "The Valkyrie". She is the current singer for Symphonic Metal giants "Nightwish", the absolute biggest band globally, in that genre, by miles. But she does more than "just that", during the pandemic lockdown she's been very active on KZbin as well, giving us covers of the biggest songs, with a little Rocket Sauce sprinkled on top. She also was part of that same tv music show called "Beste Zangers" in 2019 and reaction channels are still reacting to her songs during that season. (and of several other singers from that season.. reasons will become clear once you delve into all that music, a treasure trove of amazing performances) Many people will make suggestions for that show, i'm sure, but i have one tip, do NOT start with "Phantom of the Opera" save that for later on, start with her solo songs and end with the duets. I could list plenty of songs, but i see most already being suggested in other comments, so in that regard i'll leave the suggestions to others. This lady - Floor Jansen - is the frontlady singer of the world famous 'symphonic metal' band "Nightwish" from Finland (although Floor herself is Dutch). She is considerd to be one of the best vocal singers of today and you can check her out in two different directions. If you check the many great numbers of Nightwish (starting with "Ghost Love Score"), you will get many reactions from the "Nightwish Army" (and it's huge !!) Gabriel Bardac will fill you in on all the information about this band. On the other hand, I advise you to also check more songs of Floor from the Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" 2019 (this means best singers), where in each episode every artist is singing a song especially for one of their colleagues. It's a great show and Floor shows her versatile skills by singing in German, English, Spanish and Dutch ofcourse. She sings opera, rock, salsa, metal, but also very soft numbers (like "Shallow"). The big climax is her duet of "Phantom of the Opera, together with Henk Poort (a Dutch opera- and musical star, who played the Phantom himself). I don't tend to gush about artists too much, but about her and the band she fronts, I do! I can't help it, they are too good! She is a genuinely extraordinary vocalist. Not only is she extremely skilled on a technical level, she has exceptional stage presence and performance skills. She is able to inhabit a song on an emotional level, to bring across the truth of it. I recommend checking out the band she is frontwoman of, Nightwish. She is their third frontwoman. I've been a fan of them for 18 years, since their first frontwoman, Tarja. All of their singers have been incredible, the three frontwomen and the bass player. The keyboardist, Tuomas, is the composer and he's exceptional at composing and structuring a song. The combination of him and Floor is so good!

Yours is an empty hope....live at Wembley Arena 2015. and the lyric video (hasn't been done live yet) of Shoemaker....Human :II: Nature 2020.
