Sounded German to me initially because if it had been Dutch, I'd have been able catch a few more phrases - being Afrikaans and all. And then I checked the name and wording and realised it was a German show (I hope, I think). I might only be able to catch a few words and phrases, but this song as she sung it really hit home. Dankie, Floor, dat jy soveel verskillende tale en kulture aanpak - dis die een ding wat Suid-Afrika en Europa soveel anders maak. Die manier wat ons ander tale verstaan en probeer en ek hoop dat my Afrikaans hier sin maak vir jou. Afrikaans kom meestal van NL (70-80%) en dan bietjie Duits en Bantu tale. Weereens, dankie. Not for Dutch people. We are multi lingual, have 3 years German at least at school, like French and often Spanish. German is not that hard for us. But Scandinavian, Danish, Swedish is easier for us. I can understand that perfectly. Must be that Viking kind that ruled over Friesland and Holland for a while. They also influenced English big time.

Dear Floor I cannot understand German, however Lotte's expressions were very deep and heartfelt when you where singing and I believe you conveyed her fear, anger, anguish, pain because at some point she was talking about how she built a wall to protect herself. I think you gave voice to what she was feeling inside. Elif and Lotte are super interesting artists as well and it was beautiful to watch how all of you supported each other. Love.

I'm going to still reserve full judgement until I'm able to see the show in its completeness, but so far while musically you are shining I'm less than impressed with most of the rest I've heard so far. It may just be that the 2019 group was a bit more close to the center of mainline pop than this group is, and so pulled the group into a more coherent whole with only just enough style and personality injection to keep the impressions consistent. But still a bunch more to hear. So I maybe hasty.

The 2019 group had access to a wider variety of songs. The song covered did not have to be by the guest of honor, you could also sing nostalgic, important or inspirational songs for the guest of honor. That is why Henk could sing 'Sound of Silence' for Floor. Hell Tim Akkerman could sing a Dixie Chicks song for Samantha due to the message about same sex marriage being important to her. For the German show the name is literally 'sing my song' so your song choice is limited to the songs the artists recorded live or in studio. Outside of Floor and Kelvin none of these artists are known to non German speaking people so there is no access to mainline Pop for this show. I agree that there is no comparison between Beste Zangers and this show, but I enjoy it to see how Floor interprets songs that are not in her usual style or line of work. I also really enjoy the singing of Johannes Oerding on this show. So you are likely not gonna enjoy this as much as Beste Zangers. I view this show as an interesting experiment, more than try and compare it to the best this lady has done as that would limit my listening to a couple of Nightwish Live albums and a couple of After Forever albums and maybe the first Revamp album.

@@gerhardvanderberg9539 Heck Floor used that 2019 out to her advantage with Vilja and Shallow. I understand the difference and find it as interesting, which is why I'm not passing full judgement. I've basically only listened to Floor and the original of songs she covered, and the covers from her catalog. I actually don't think Floor really pushed all that hard. But I was really surprised at many of the choices made picking from her catalog and on the whole pretty disappointed. But I will have to hear all of their covers to figure out what they were trying to do.

​@@judedornisch4946 She did some great vocal performances on Beste Zangers but she chose Villa Lied an operatic song, Phantom of the Opera a glory note song from a musical, Mama an emotional belter, a spectacular subdued version of a great Pop song in Shallow. Que se siente was the only song where the original and hers sounded almost not related. Here the show consists mainly of good lyricists with average musicianship singing deep meaningful songs about life and love in a subdued fashion, speaking of Clueso, Elif, Lotte and Johannes Oerding here. Of these musically and vocally I like Oerding the most and also like his Northward cover of While love died on the Floor night. The other two acts is SDP a party band with average vocals but also occasional deep lyrics and a fun vibe and Kelvin Jones a non native German soul singer who in my opinion also did a good cover of Storytime. I like the Floor evening songs less than I expected especially considering how much I liked the Floor evening on Beste Zangers, but outside of Kelvin Jones all the songs sounded like I expected them to sound. My opinion is similar to yours in that their song choices is a bit weird, but they chose on what moved them and not what fit their voices the best. Her Duet of Amaranth with SDP although a bit crazy still put a smile on my face.

What you need to do is listen to the original, then listen to Floor's cover of the original. Where the originals lack the luster, Floor buffs and polishes the content and transforms each song into something brilliant. You can watch the episodes on Odysee, or just the performances by Floor with subs.

@@gerhardvanderberg9539 Floor went into Beste as a metal ambassador. With in that she knew the basic perception of metal and basically only had to prove she could sing, which of course would do her just as well. She knows what she has vocally. In that context Getting to go for Henk to start was perfect as Oprea and Metal have common threads. After that Phantom was pure fan service as everybody wanted to hear that. The rest of the show was simply to put just enough of a rock tinge to only make it interesting, an shallow was merely a subversion of expectations as people expected a rockier version of Floor out Gagaing Gaga. Here I just think she truncated her musical range into a fine but rather uninteresting set of expected performances. Black and White was a great singer songwriter take and I enjoyed it. For the rest I still need context which you have and I have yet to gain, as Storytime is my least favorite.
