An absolutely amazing performance by Floor. I love how she "softened" it from the original. So emotional. It's hard to look beyond her stunning vocals on this one, but the arrangement for this song was brilliant. Kudos to the backing musicians on giving Floor a perfect setup for her to crush it.

Ok. Warning, this is a beautiful, deep deep rabbithole! This is one off Floor's performances in the dutch show 'Beste Zangers' (Best singer) where 6 singers from different musicgenre sing songs from each other to eatch other. Very impressive (and by the way gamechanging) moments for Floor. I can strongly recoment all other performances from this show, each one is a masterpiece.

All the floor beste zangers songs are awesome. The most entertaining is the one from the first week. Most of the other contestants (also pro singers) had no idea who she was, and most dutch seem to have a strange concept of what metal music is (loud beardy men worshiping the devil, or something). They were completely shocked when she started singing.

At the beginning, they were like; lol, who is this “metal singer”? Then later, when they had to sing for Floor, it was “is this ok Floor, was it ok?”. Floor absolutely owned the 2019 Beste Zangers. Along with Henk then 😁

Floor is singing this to/for the woman in red, Emma Heesters, which is why the second verse starts with "tell me something, girl" again. This song is a great example of how Floor paints textures with her voice - the creak and breathiness wraps you up in a warm fuzzy blanket, and when she opens up the throttle and adds power, you feel like you are soaring. She really is a master at tuning the emotions and textures - on top of being a world class vocal technician.

I envy the Dutch for Floors „Beste Zangers“ performances. One year later she was on German TV at „Sing meinen Song“. She was great, but most of the songs she could choose from we‘re so next to crap…. I can understand, why RTL hides the videos from KZbin…

​@@millennialmeetsmusic first band was After Forever which she joined at sixteen until they disbanded in 2009. Then she formed her own band called ReVamp until she had a burnout. Then contacted by Nightwish to stand in for their singer and fly to USA learning setlist in 48 hours. Also guested for Arjen Anthony Lucassen on his Star One and Ayreon projects. Another one of her projects was her band called Northward. Plus guesting with Soilwork, Evergrey, Avantasia and others. She has just released her first solo album called Paragon. Have fun.

Her voice is even more outstanding than even this would indicate. This is something of a departure from her normal style, as it is mostly very restrained, light, and delicate. You really need to see Vilja Lied from this same show. The piece is from an operetta, and is quite the technical display. It's the first song she performed, and most of the people on stage didn't really know who she was.

Becky, this is from a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers 2019. It's not a competition, they just bring Dutch singers from different genres of music together and they sing songs to each other. Each person has their night on the center couch and all the other singers sing songs to them that night. The young blond in the red dress was who Floor was singing this to. She started here with a YT channel doing covers. The older gentleman you saw on the other couch was the reason Floor did the show. He played the Phantom in the Musical Phantom of the Opera and Floor saw him sing the main song on TV when she was young. The last night was doing duets and Floor and Henk sing the Phantom song together and it is truly amazing!

I was following this show in KZbin when Floor was in it, and what amazes me the most of this performance is, it is not even a sad song. The Valkyrie Goddess of Metal just decided to sing it with a sentimental tone, and at the end of the performance there was not a dry eye in the audience. Floor is just that good.

One of the true best tests of a performer's abilities is to impress another performer. Then do it in front of the person who inspired you to become a singer in the first place. I've seen most of Floor's performances from the show, and it never ceases to amaze me how she just amazes the others on the show. I've known of Floor since her time in After Forever, and her own project ReVamp, and this show showed her versatility and range that those bands never did. It's always amazing to watch.

It still amazes me that she was virtually unknown as a singer in her own country until her performances in this show. She was certainly well respected in the European metal community. If she had been available at the time, it's likely that Nightwish would have hired her after Tarja was let go.

From what I've heard, Floor specifically changed/altered the lyrics for the second verse to give love to Emma...who had apparently just gone through a bad breakup. True or not, that's the level of authenticity that Floor gives every one of her performances.
