To all those wondering why anyone would play this instead of hockey, is that at least here in northern Europe we play this in schools a lot. It's a lot easier to grasp than hockey and doesn't require nearly as much equipment. Then, after spending your entire childhood playing this many kids decide to take it up as a proper hobby, and then when enough people do that the adults' elite leagues are bound to become reality.

+Jonathan Reed There is, kinda, as it only matters for the ball. The player can dance around as much as they want, as long as the ball is moving forward, no matter how much (even 1 mm is enough if the ref can see it). Similarly, even a slight movement backwards by the ball results in a no goal.

+Sterak's Gage I watched the clip a few times to be sure and I don't think it hits the helmet. If you look closely you can see that it actually hits the back post instead. This is also why the ball goes to the back of the net without really touching the "middle flap", which doesn't usually reach all the way to the goal posts.

I mean goalies in floorball usually save about 3/4th of the shots and about every other penalty shot. So in floorball you get scores like 10-5 instead of "Oh they won by one goal or it's a tie? That's nice"

Iunno if this is my lack of familiarity with the sport, but I'm way more impressed with the goals where the shooter flips the ball in the air and bats it into the net rather than just making the goalie go left and right and back left to score on an empty net. Number 1 was pretty underwhelming after watching the other goals.

Stepping is way to slow and leaves the corners open for fast zorros around the posts. The ball can go faster around corners in floorball since you're standing still. I know this since i play floor ball. It really doesn't work with the ice hockey stance

All these butthurt hockey kids.. I can tell you some good things about floorball. 1. All you need is shoes, stick, and maybe a pair of glasses if you wanna protect your eyes. In hockey all these things that you have to keep on your body is so freaking expensive. 2. It's a very fast sport wich means there's alot of goals. 3. You're not in a hall full of ice. So the people looking at the game and the players themself won't be cold :D I have nothing against hockey but there's just so many people being like "Is this even a sport? It's pretty much the same thing as ball/floor hockey. Goalies also have the same gear as ice hockey goalies. So this looks pretty fun as well. I played floor and ball hockey for years, street hockey, etc.

These rules are stupid though. The person taking the shot should not be allowed to stop moving his feet moving forward, if he does it should be blown dead by the officials. Just like in ice hockey. Stopping like that and being allowed to reposition your momentum will really open the goalies up. They cant possibly cut angles anymore. This is street hockey at best. I respect this as a sport, but the rule for these penalty shots should be no different than on ice. Give the goalies a chance guys🤣
