A rule of high-sticking when shooting: "Offences leading to a free-hit ... When a field player raises the blade of his stick above waist level in the back swing before hitting the ball, or in the forward swing after hitting the ball. This includes mock shots. A high swing *is* *allowed* if no other players are in the vicinity, and there is no risk of being hit. As waist level is considered the level of the waist when standing upright." (IFF Rules of the Game. 2018)

Curved wrist shot was missing.(meaning when you create strong spin to the ball making it curve in mid air)

When I used to play in ~2005 high stick was not allowed, were the rules changed since?

You can PLAY (hit) the ball only below your knee, but you can lift the stick up to your waist. If there's nobody close by, you can even follow the shot with stick higher
