I had a lot of fun with both Surge games. I’m not usually into Soulslike’s but good sci-fi horror games are few and far between and I get sucked into anything that calls Event Horizon to mind:)

The deal with vampires and water: vampires get their power from the earth/soil, and I _think_ running water acts to cut off that connection. To wit, in the novel _Dracula,_ Drac can travel across the ocean by ship, but only because he brought like 40 boxes full of dirt with him. I assume that were he to try without the boxes, he'd be weak and powerless, cut off from the earth. I will admit, this is largely conjecture.

On a similar note, I've heard that vampires (and undead in general) fear fire because fire is seen as a "purifying" force of nature. And since undead are considered "unnatural", they would be opposed to such a force.

@@yakumoyomi5765 same reason they cant be seen in mirrors. mirrors used to be backed with reflective silver. silver is a purifying metal and vampires, being undead and thus impure had their image "repelled" by it.

The idea for an odd couple dark fantasy story about humans stopping a vampire apocalypse is there, but the execution is very poor (not explaining the story when you start really does make it hard to get into the setting and characters). At least Alysa's outfit is nice and the company went on to make Lords of the Fallen.
