If you were told not to go to a place by tourist agents, it is most likely because those people are paid (by certain business institutions) to bring tourists to places where these institutions have small and medium businesses going on. Places like above especially in Kuala Lumpur are actually safe places for tourists because it is in the heart of Malaysia (capital) and has at least 80 years of history behind them. The streets are old, the buildings are old and full of history and culture, the people there had been working there for decades and you can find a lot of things here which will define Malaysia. Also when in doubt, go to the nearest police station and ask them where are the best and safest place for tourists (especially those who are walking around alone).

'Paku choi' or in Malay called 'paku-pakis' is basically ferns or wild ferns. Usually the locals will just pick them from any nearby forest or some even from their own backyard, especially after it had rained because I'm told they're the freshest and the crunchiest. You can cook it in so many ways. Stir fried with belacan (shrimp paste), with garlic and oyster sauce but my favorite would be pickled paku choi. One can never starve along Alor lane because there's just too many eateries to choose from. Can't wait for your next food adventure video. Stay safe you two and sawatdeekrup 🙏

This is a must visit place for foodies and tourists when in KL. Its better to go for dinner and preferably after dark. Gone were the days where people used to accuse this place as a tourist slaughter house as nowadays most food stalls and restaurants will exhibit their menu and pricing upfront, and the stiff competition has stabilised the prices there too. Moreover, food operators now know the power of social media and are aware of the consequences if any foul play is applied. So go visit Jalan Alor the food haven street without fear or prejudice! Cheers.✌️

It is not recommended for local food but they have lots of foods around Asia. Why its not recommended for local food? Well price wise for example, just take a look at how much it cost you for simple local snack of Pisang Goreng... then go to other places and compare the price. It not like the banana sold in Jalan Alor was from a farm that is not local, nor the butter was made of gold either, but the price difference is ridiculous. The vendor at Jalan Alor just raise the price taking advantage of tourist buying power. Yes it is OK considering location wise ONLY IF the rental for the stalls there was higher than other places but in reality, the rental cost difference is around 50% higher while their price is 300% higher.

You guys were very near to a burger stall at one end of jalan Alor, many youtubers went there for Malaysia's popular Ramly Burger which that stall (Burger Boss) known. Even if you order the most expensive ones they're not more than RM 10, very likely around RM 7- 8 per burger even at different places. Judging from the meal you guys had, there's no room for a burger for sure. For Chinese selections, you can go to ICC Pudu around 9am on weekdays, weekends are jam packed so don't go and majority of the stalls are closing anytime after 12 noon depends on whether they still have ingredients availability and you guys will be at home as Cantonese are mostly used. FYI, Besides food, there's nothing much there to see.

You both are such a lovely couple, and I was shocked to find I hadn't yet subscribed, but now I am after watching this video. Flora is such a beautiful woman, Note, you truly are a blessed man to have found such a wonderful girl to share your life with. ❤Also, Note, I'm envious of your awesome Tats (tattoos) especially the one on the back of your neck - the wings - but unfortunately I have not found a video on your channel that shows 'enough' of it to see the amazing artwork, so maybe one day you could do a video-even if short-that reveals the intricate details of all your tats. I'd love one like those wings maybe on the back of my neck or shoulder but have yet to 'find' the perfect style similar to yours, although it's never been seen close up. I also have a kid's magazine image of bat wings in both skeletal and normal appearance, so I want one on the front shoulder, and one on the back of my shoulder to 'see' their contrast, think they'd be cool tats 'for me,' anyway. Also the vegetables you were both eating looked a little like fiddleheads, and we have them growing wild here in New Hampshire, USA and are tasty when very young sprouts and cooked properly. I love your channel, I finally hit the like and subscribed, so if you watchers haven't done so yet, do please click the "Like" and "Subscribe" buttons to add this great couple and help them out for more views and let's all get them way way over 100k Subs, 🙏 Please, and TY 👍 And, Stay Healthy, Happy and Safe, you two! ❤

This place mostly for tourist. Local seldom go unless one particular food they fancy. Fried durians started just a few years ago. Malaysian Durians are more flavourful, more aromatic and stronger in taste and smell. Unlike the Thai Monthong or Chaney which is light in flavour and not strong smell. Kaya is a local caramelized jam(not coconut) made from eggs, coconut milk, palm sugar mix and steamed with pandan leaves/juice for aromatics. You also have in Hatyai.

Err ..hope you do not mind me correcting the info on the kaya jam. It is not just caramel. Authentic kaya actually has got coconut milk as one of its ingredients. But as usual the commercial/factory produced type will be using much lesser coconut milk (expensive) or not surprising, using artificial flavor instead. Having said so, there are still sellers (usually small businesses) that are passionate about cooking, that sell real good kaya.
