I always use a nutdriver on screw type hose clamps when I can. Saves the Knuckles too, when you have to use them.

I've got 3M dry erase tape. I put a strip on the kegs, fermenters and carboys. Then just like you showed here I use a sharpie and rubbing alcohol. Good advice.

I use all of these things. :) Except bleach... bleach is terrible. It's super hard to rinse away, and can leave a residue on many materials. PBW FTW For hose clamps, take a look at Oetiker clamps used for PEX plumbing. They're cheap, come in tons of sizes, and leave a nice professional and manufactured look to the finished product. They also don't snag on things like regular hose clamps. The only down side is they're one-and-done... taking them off destroys trhem. Great video as always!
@FloraBrewing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s why I don’t like them and you have to cut them off I only used for my kegs and bleach is emergency use only
@markc70703 жыл бұрын
I gave up on hose clamps completely because they chewed my hoses up. Instead I downsized to 3/8 thick walled silicone tubing squeezed over 1/2 fittings and so far no need for clamps and no leaks.

Instead of a t-shirt, I use a king size pillow case. But that's just for bulk aging. T-shirt makes more sense for primary!

I don't recommend the Dyson for vacuuming malt. I think you're spot on with the Makita or a shop vac of some sort. I've found that my Dyson filter gets clogged easily if the dust is too fine

Like all bag-less vacuums make sure you have an air compressor to clean it out. The office at the shop I work at has a dyson vacuum. Office will use it and empty it x2 or x3 times, then they give it to me to clean it. It takes about 5 minutes with an air compressor and blow nozzle. After it is completely blown out it will work like new. Wear eye protection and a mask, it's nasty fine powdery dust.
@FloraBrewing3 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I'll have to break out the air compressor

I usually use fingernail polish remover/acetone to remove permanent marker. After a search I found that some fingernail polish remover is actually made from isopropyl alcohol/rubbing alcohol.
@FloraBrewing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah anything with alcohol seems to work, even dry erase markers work!

The viewtainers were invented by an electrician from Illinois to hold wire nuts, he sold the idea to Crown Bolt in Indianapolis that was then bought by Home Depot, so you can find them at Home Depot. The more you know :)

Hey Sarah. You can use isopropyl alcohol as a sanitizer as well. A lot of breweries use them and spray bottles.

I call those things spring clamps, not sure either? I was watching the basic brewing channel once and James Spencer refered to a podcast where he interviewed the chemest that created bleach, pbw, star san and I can only imagine what else? It was interesting to get some behind the scenes nerdy stuff from the one who created a lot of the things brewers rely on. Your talking about moving, is Jenny traumatized?😉
