Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto.

After spending a few weeks in Italy this summer, I found a new favorite city. It turns out that Florence has all the sights, all the beauty, it’s surrounded by amazingly beautiful landscape, it has the best food, and so much more. There is so much history here, and I simply fell in love with every corner of this town.
Below you’ll find my favorite activities from my trip:

1. Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore - This church is probably the most famous attraction in all of Florence. You can go inside, you can climb it and you can visit museums around it. I highly recommend allocating a day to visit the surrounding sights and climbing the church. We were too late to book (so make sure to book a week ahead at least) and enjoy seeing all the details of this piece of art as well as Florence from above. 🕌
2. Ponte Vecchio - This bridge that crosses the Arno River is famous for all the jewelry shops on it. It was built In 1345 and has been a venue for shops ever since.
3. Uffizi Gallery - This is one of the most famous art galleries in the world. A ticket will set you back 12 Euros bit it is well worth it to admire the beautiful interior as well as the famous paintings. The AC here is extremely poor, so keep that in mind if you’re visiting during summer peak hours. It gets really hot! ☀️
4. Piazzale Michelangelo for sunset - we came here many evenings when visiting Florence. It is such a beautiful viewpoint and if the crowds aren’t your thing, there are several less popular viewpoints in the area as well. 🌅
5. Boboli Gardens - If you want to see a beautiful, garden while also overlooking the rolling Tuscan hills, this is the activity for you. This is a stunning place but if you’re visiting during summer I’d suggest that you bring your own water. They don’t sell it inside the park and it gets really hot. Admission fee to the park is 10 EUR. 🍃🌿
