Since the Piazza Michelangelo Firenze is located on a hill, it is quite a steep climb. However, you don't have to get bored on the road. You are sure to encounter a high watchtower, the Porta San Niccolò, which once formed a gate in the defensive walls of Florence.
Piazzale Michelangelo is a must see when visiting Florence. It's a very short walk from the town centre up a steep hill but well worth it!

Santa Croce is a very popular area for tourists and florentines. In the piazza there are many typical leather shops which this area famous. There are many concerts, festivals and markets that take place here each year. Nearby the piazza there is the oldest library that has survived the great flood of Florence.
