The bulk of my 20s were pretty brutal. Family tragedies, health problems, economic anxieties, you name it. By 2010 I was able/willing to crawl out of this hole, explore this world, and pursue my dreams. My 20s were achingly lonely, but by the new tens I was making friends, falling in love. I first started hearing FotM around this period, you might say Florence's music was the anthem. (This of also around the time the MCU/Guardians started shaping up) Most of my friends are married, living somewhere else, etc. We'll always be friends, but as nature intended it's never going to be like it was. Choosing this music to close out the trilogy really struck a personal chord.

My 5th year old daughter love this song like or more than me. Obviously i wanted to hear this song many times, my head reproduce it in my head everynight at all time in the day, when i was driving, when i was working... For my the Dogs Days are a representation of the slavery days in the work... I work for my father and my Mother, i work for my sister and my brother, i work for my Daughter and (if in the future there are a boy coming) for the future me. Run Fast for leave the dogs days behind, for the happiness of live other day, for have food in the table, for other day with my dad and mom alive with me. I have 33 and i don't want a world without them in my life. But the life, the world is going on, the Earth continues turning in a storm of happiness, rage, crying, laught, and joy. The life can be 1 day or 105 years... Maybe you can live all suffering and never meet the happiness for stand in a war zone... For this you must run for all this. The Dogs days are over. The dogs days are gone. Can you hear the horses? 'Cause here they come

My mom was beaten senseless for 15 years at the hands of an alcoholic husband. Growing up of course I wanted to intervene but what is a child to do. We finally left 4 years ago when the abuse went from her to both of us in my efforts to protect her once I came of age. I’m 20 now and I wish she and I could’ve found this song so much sooner for some clarity and healing together. Domestic abuse is one of nastiest and mind altering things that can happen to a family. This song is a guide to healing fromit and To recognize that all your love and longing should be left behind. You can’t carry it with you if you want to survive. It wasn’t an option for her. We left him 4 years ago and all of us are still trying to find our way back. This song gives so much hope.

@jessicam5712
@jessicam5712 19 күн бұрын
@@mrpajais this a serious question? Because it sounds disrespectful to me. Everyone always asks why someone being abused didn't leave, they never asked why an abuser didn't stop. Abusers don't just start hitting you, they start out the best guy you ever met, because everyone of them knows how to become exactly what you want, they patiently wait until you can't get away, til you're living together and you're dependent on them, overtime they isolate you from any means you have to leave, then the emotional and mental abuse starts, and you don't realize it at first but it changes you, they manipulate, they bully, they mess with your head and make you think that you're the crazy one. Abusive people aren't ever just violent all the time, when they're not they might be the most loving and kind person you've ever known, but they break you down and exhaust you until you don't have resources or the strength to leave, so you start to build that up for yourself again and it isn't easy because if they catch you you'll end up back at square one. People don't want to see abuse, I had my phone and was messaging my mom for help, my ex saw this and I tried to run from him, I ran into a grocery store and he was running behind me, he grabbed me by my hair and pulled me to the ground, people saw this but no one called the cops. And attitudes like yours are why. I had to leave everything I ever owned to get away, I had to trick him, I had to borrow a phone and call my mom, then I hid in the bushes waiting for her. I was terrified. After that he stalked me aggressively until I left my hometown for a city an hour away. When I tried to get a restraining order he manipulated the judge into believing I was making it all up. When I called the cops, they wouldn't show up. It turns out his family was friends with all the cops. It's been a few years but I'm still scared he'll show up someday.

Track is about a person who has finally let go of their past and is facing a new beginning. In the first verse, the protagonist used to hide from her past, trying to avoid confronting it. However, happiness finally hit her "like a train on a track", and she could no longer ignore it. She then killed her past with kisses and fled from it. The chorus is a call to leave all of one's emotional baggage behind to face the future, represented by the horses that are coming. The reference to "dog days" is used to describe oppressive and unbearable heat from ancient times when it was believed that dogs went mad under the intense heat. The phrase itself is symbolic of a long, difficult period. Hence, the expression "the dog days are over" signifies the end of the struggles and hardships that one has faced in life. In the bridge, the protagonist confesses that she never wanted anything from the person who caused her pain except their love which they could not give her. The second verse describes how happiness had hit her unexpectedly before, but it was also taken away from her suddenly. While this was a painful experience, she now knows that her life has changed for the better, and she is ready to face the future. Overall, the song encourages listeners to move forward and leave behind anything that may be holding them back. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of personal growth and change.

today marks the beginning of me overcoming my anxiety. edit: usually i don’t like editing my comments to add something else, but the people replying to this comment have really touched me. in my life i struggle with a lot of things, for, getting out of bed, doing work, showering, just mundane tasks that to most people seem easy and typically rather boring. i’ve been suffering through this for a long time now and, though it hardly gets any easier, you learn to cope. and though i am not perfect, nor will i ever be, knowing that at least from what is now almost a year since i left this comment i have improved at least a slight bit, accepted myself a little bit more and come slightly closer to true happiness, is unbelievably reassuring. each one of the likes and the replies i have received has reminded me that, though it may not feel like it, i am never alone in my battle. for that i want to thank you all. it may be difficult to believe but your small act of kindness has helped me greatly, and i wish nothing but the best for all of you even in these difficult times. i’m glad this song, which means so much to me on its own, could bring us together as a reminder to at least a few of us that you are stronger than you know. you are so loved; never forget that.

The Universe brought me here. I've been listening to this song on repeat for the past 3 months and never knew the lyrics. Finally, put the captions on, and it hit my soul. I just left my home state after 20 years. New job, New life. New beginnings. Perfect soundtrack for life.

I cant count how many times i have heard this song where it was just background noise. I tried searching for it and gave up a few years ago. Today, while sitting at my desk, Floance and the Machine randomly popped into my head. A quick search landed me here. Finally got to listen and adsorb it. It hit hard in a lot of different ways. Lots of feelings and a few tears.

I was addicted to heroin for about 8 years. It started when I was 18, shortly after my dad died. I ruined my education, finances, credit, reputation & the trust of my family. By the time I got clean I had no idea how to be an adult who didn't use drugs. I slowly started figuring it out & getting my life back in order. I have been clean for about 9 years now. I'm now 35, married & have a 4yo son. I still have trouble with things like depression & anxiety, but I'm doing ok.

@@diie-ana2146 The motivation for me came from being sick of feeling like crap all the time. But I couldn't do it on sheer willpower. It never worked for me. So I got into the methadone program. The stability of not having to drug seek every day, combined with counseling & just being tired of the lifestyle is what helped me get clean. The counseling was very important because it helped me address WHY I started using in the first place & I learned healthier coping mechanisms. I was on Methadone for a few years. I took that time to change my life & my brain so much that I didn't have a single craving when I got off of it. I still have trouble with depression (mostly just having low energy & motivation) from low dopamine. But I take vitamins that help & I try to get as much sunshine as possible. It helps quite a bit.

This song hits different after watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I right away started crying and smiling like an idiot when Rocket started playing it. And then everyone started to dance and I just kept on smiling because this is just the beginning of something new. Their found family will be going their separate ways and I know it's sad but they know it's what's best for them. Gamora going back to the Ravagers, Peter leaving for Earth to reunite with his grandpa, Mantis leaving on a journey of self discovery, Nebula and Drax raising the kids together to create a new family, and finally, Rocket and Groot forming the new Guardians of the Galaxy. They all got the ending they deserved to finally be happy and I love James Gunn for ending their story so beautifully.

i remember listening to this when i was around 5-6. crazy to think im 18 now and going to college. didn’t think this would hit as hard at it does now. we spend our entire childhood yearning to be older and when we reach maturity we feel a longing to go back. this whole “life” thing is scary. but i want to face it head on

I escaped human sex trafficking where I’d be beat starved and forced to do unimaginable things only a month ago. I’m pregnant and flourishing! Building my mental health up and learning to be happy again. I guess you can say my dog days are over as well. Don’t worry because no matter what you go through you’re strong and you’ll make it. 💓

I've waited years to finally contribute my story to this comment section. I came from a poor, dysfunctional family filled with hate, abuse and neglection. I thought I'd never get out, I thought my brother would kill me for being gay before I move out. But now I've moved away for a volunteer year and University after that. I'm free - from the abuse, from my alcoholic mother, from all the hopelessness. Now I'm sipping a tea in my small apartment, in a building where all my friends and friends to be live. Thank you! This song convinced me to keep on surviving and finally see the light. Always in my heart.

My abusive, homophobic, and transphobic dad affected me in ways I thought I could never recover from. I attempted suicide at age 14, thinking I would never escape from the life I had. Tomorrow, I’m heading out to Colorado with my mom and we’re leaving the pain behind. We’re creating a brand new family, and gonna have the best life that my dad kept us from. The dog days are over :)
