I hear what you are saying Matthew, but there are many people with the *wrong stroke style* whom swim at astonishing speeds. This has perplexed me for years until I realized that these specific swimmers ( amongst them many swingers ) developed specific muscle strengths that directly complement their odd style of swimming. Ergo, change their style and now they need to redevelop both muscle memory and specific strengths in different fibres.

this deserve some love. im watching it in 2024. I watch this race live in 2012, but rewatched it in 2016 and 2021 (during olympics I always rewatch a lot). For the first time ever I watched it paying attention at Ervin. Look at when they first show it from above how behind he is from everyone else and how much he recovers throught the race. If it wasn't for his bad start maybe he could've won it.

I think the 50 Free is about taking chance, because the race has to be close to perfect or else it'll have a huge impact on your place and time.

A lot of guys breathe every 2 in the 100free, but it depends on the rhythm of the stroke. A longer, loping stroke is more conducive to breathing every 2 because the breath fits naturally into the stroke, but it doesn't generate the sort of speed required for the 50. This is why the podium for the 50 and 100 is often drastically different.

A win for the Gold Medalist at the 2012 Olympics and every time you swim a 50 Metres Race you might think it is short but that isn't completely true because it means you have to swim so you might lose. Never worry about distance concentrate on your job which is swimming and trying to win the race at first place. Congratulations to winners of this race with the Gold,Silver and Bronze medals as usual but the Silver Medalist swum very well and many might think he was going to win this race and truly he deserved to win at first place but he lacked power to overcome it all and finished behind the winner of this Freestyle race overall so bad news 4 him but that's sport the result defines the real outcome so the Medalist win medals as ever n they will feel happy and proud about it all so now get your rewards and the prizes so that means happy days 4 then n da losers they have to forget about this and try again next time out if they are there then.

Manaudou does everything my coach said me don't do. He stay underwater for 15 meters, straight arm stroke and he 'punches' the water. My coach says that isn't so effective, but Manaudou does it perfect. Looking Cielo, the wr holder, I noticed he does everything my coach says to do, don't stay underwater fo so long, full arm straight stroke but he slides his hands into the water. So...I don't know what to do.
