Update of the World's Largest Nature Aquarium Florestas Submersas (Forests underwater) by Takashi Amano at Lisbon Oceanarium, Portugal. This time, I finally made it, but not with the time this aquarium needs to be appreciated.. I only had a short window of 1 hour between my workshop at Casa dos Discus and my train, but still got 30 min to visit and record this video for you guys! I hope you enjoy it.

Sir I have a doubt I am planning to buy a canister but was concerned about flow rate after filling it with media I made 4 options for 4 feet tank eheim classic 600, eheim pro 4, oase 850, fluval 407. Help me make a wise decision.
@bkbabu14133 жыл бұрын
Can I trust oase flow rate that they mention on the box after I fill the media. Or is it 50% flow.
@FAAOAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
@@bkbabu1413 it depends of the filter media you put in... But that is the same to all the filters. More packed they are and with small biological media, less flow will have. That is the same to all!! But just the fact of having internal heater and pre-filter, the OASE is the wise decision. Much easier to clean and maintain

When this aquascaping be on the end, I’m hoping the tank re-construction could be done by Portuguese, like Filipe Oliveira. It will be tremendous.

The first time I went I sat in front of it for 6 hours. It needs to be seen to be understood. Very emotional scapes. Everytime I visit Lisbon I pop in. Thanks for sharing. Due to covid have not visited in two years.

I live 3h distance and any time I travel to Lisbon and have time between work and train, I need to go back there. It's always nice to see how this is evolving since day one till now. Unfortunately the quality is getting worse, but was also expected because it's a huge tank and it's doing 7 years almost since it was scaped.

Thank you Filippe for your update on Florestas Submersas. I've visited it in 2019 and I think every aquarist should go and see it in real life. It's just stunning to see in person, 40 metres is a BIG tank and will even make one a bit emotional to think of the fact this is Amano's last project. Being a temporary exhibition, I wonder how much longer it will stay at Oceanário. Best regards and stay healthy, Nick
@FAAOAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, I completely agree with you! It's something that you must experience live because no matter how many pictures and videos you see, it doesn't give it justice. For me it's always emotional because I was on the team that worked in this project and even though it was almost 7 years ago, it looks like it was yesterday... Time flies. No idea how long they will keep it, but taking in consideration some parts of the tank, I believe will not be too long, but...

I have visited the exhibition twice and it is exceptional. The fish population has significantly declined since I last saw it. With so much space and so many densely planted areas I would expect some species to naturally reproduce and build up a sustainable population. Any idea why that does not seem to be the case?
@FAAOAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
I think can be for several reasons: - avoid extra maintenance and organic waste - dead fish in the display because this tank is doing almost 7 years - feeding issues because it's a big, big tank - and this tank is coming to an end soon... It is a undetermined exhibition (temporary). So maybe they don't want to overstock in case they know when they will shutdown.
@Ramond86863 жыл бұрын
I understand why they are not stocking more fish, but would think some of the species would be able to breed naturally in such an environment and that fry would have enough hiding places to survive?
@PhyshBox3 жыл бұрын
It's an amazing work of art. But it's slowly dying, you can see it if you look closely. It needs some serious maintenance. I don't think it's going to be around much longer.
@FAAOAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
You're right. In the video is not so visible but live we can notice that some parts are suffering a bit. But still an amazing job by the team for a tank with almost 7 years.
