So pleased to hear so! Comments like that make the whole process of filming and making these films feel very worthwhile. It takes me out of my normal practice quite considerably but has perhaps allowed me to have a greater influence worldwide? I used to watch pottery videos when I was a student and they helped a tremendous amount, so it's a good feeling making videos for others who might use them in the same way. Thanks for watching and all the best potting!

@@floriangadsby in college, I watched a lot of Hsinchuen Lin and it really influenced how I approach throwing and pottery. I teach now and sometimes I'm hesitant to show your videos to total beginners--it's inevitable someone gets HOOKED on your level of technical throwing & trimming and expectations skyrocket 😅 Truly, your videos are an incredible resource, and a good lesson that it's all about practice and cumulative, hard-earned experience--pots like this just aren't made in the first 8 weeks, and yet, even you started where my beginners are. Thank you.

Just loved it. The hollowing out of foot is the most difficult part, and super fun. It is one of my goals to get better at it. I thought I did a good job until I noticed a dome on the inside of my teacup! You have such amazing attention to detail and a lovely way of speaking. Loved seeing your doggie 4x in this video. He is the cutest.

Thanks for the video; it made me take pause and consider what I'm doing automatically, out of habit when I'm trimming. I was amazed that you trimmed 11 ounces off of this pot as I have always been very focused on throwing as thinly as possible but never considered trimming inside of the pot. It's always good to reassess what we do and how we're doing it to get fresh ideas; thanks for this.😊

What a wonderful comment! I feel exactly the same when I watch videos by other potters. There's no RIGHT way of making pottery, but seeing how other minds figure out ways of doing things is fascinating - the fact this video did that for you makes all he effort spent creating it completely worth it. Thanks for taking the time to watch!

As a new potter, I can say that I am not a fan of trimming at all! I have trimmed through the bottom of two pots, I have created uneven feet, and somehow I have ruined more than a few sidewalls by trimming badly. Your video makes it look so easy and then I remind myself how much more experience you have…and that you likely had difficulties in the beginning too. This video, in particular, is one I will watch again and again to help me learn to improve. I am not giving up - and I know that with practice and helpful tutorials like this, I will become the potter I want to be ❤

Made it all the way to the end, as always. I love watching your videos. I'm back in art class for the remainder of the semester, and your videos are so helpful. You are a truly gifted teacher, as well as ceramist, and I am so glad you are willing to offer your insights for all of us who are still learning. A real treasure. For me, trimming is a necessary evil, and I guess that is because I am not very good at it. I prefer the throwing stage, and opening my kiln, of course. I get to see all of the hard work come "alive." I'm really looking forward to reading your book next month when it releases here in the US. It will become a valuable reference in my studio. Thank you!

I‘m new in pottery and I love and hate trimming at the same time 😂 I love it because it‘s soo satisfying and in the end it looks so beautiful. I hate it because its so difficult 🙈 Sometimes I feel it‘s more difficult than throwing. I made myself a chuck with your video but I ruined the mugs‘ rims, maybe they were to soft. And always the mugs fly away even if the 3 clay pieces are attached to the bottom 😂 But I will practice until it‘s easy! ❤ Thank you for your videos ❤️❤️❤️
