Spent a decade in Florida....loved, LOVED being so close to the water. But, BUT, the downsides.....principally the collective goodwill of your neighbors and community members is LESS THAN ZERO. Hostile on the roads, hostile in homeowner association meetings, hostile in lines at restaurants....you face sheer hostility at every turn. Are there nice people....yes, but they are literally overwhelmed and eventually jaded by the huge # of a$$holes running around in the wild. Also, especially south Florida.....grifter and scamster central. It's as if every failed mobster moves to south Florida to try their hand as independent contractors. Seriously, it is a natural paradise but one that's been paved over and invaded by America's rudest and loudest. #nope

Florida is not the state people think it is. I live here in the Central region (Tampa) and it's sad here. So many families are homeless here living in hotels. People can't get any assistance because there is none. Extremely high rent. You can't even find a place to live. And no one cares. Until they are in the situation themselves (SMH). My message to anyone is save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. It's beautiful here but definitely not worth the stress.

I am a native. I have lived in Hollywood ( South Florida ), Carollwood ( Tampa ) & Seminole County ( Orlando) for 57 years. Having moved 10 years ago from nyc to Naples I can tell you it was the worst decision I ever made. please know what you don’t pay in taxes you will end up paying in homeowners insurance and hurricanes. Plus 9 months of the year it’s swamp like weather extreme heat, humidity and mosquitoes.
@michaelrivera2080
@michaelrivera2080 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I can agree however why did you choose Naples if you don't mind me asking? The humidity is bad and mosquitoes are a pain but I must say it beats the winters, your cars last alot longer, you save on clothing and food is relatively cheaper in comparison to NYC. Florida is definitely a challenge and not for everyone but if you can overcome the heat and yes the rain. You'll be ok. Perhaps moving more central Florida would eliminate those taxes and homeowners insurance.

Florida is no longer Florida, it use to be so calm and safe in the 80 and before. I remember the FL that people left their cars open and their house windows and doors open. The schools were so comfortable and the theme parks were so empty in the low seasons that locals would have the park for themselves. The health system was so efficient and faster, barely any hospital or doctors appointments waiting. The traffic was not even heavy and Sunday most of the day the road was empty. Nature was not a threat because wildlife was mainly perserved. All of those things are gone.

But when it comes to a particular red state: crime, person of color, poverty, walkability, lack of freedom, terrible manners from people, no jobs, housing insurance costs, gotta drive 30 minutes to go anywhere, nothing to do, actually having the higher crime rate, governor going to war against his own party’s interest, cost of housing going up, hurricanes causing massive property damage, alligator attacks, low taxes = poor education, skin eating bacteria, cost of living going up.
