As a New Yorker, I would never want to live in Florida. It’s too hot and humid for me. Homeowners insurance is also getting more and more expensive because of the extreme weather events the state experiences. Not just hurricanes, this past June, south Florida had an awful storm that dumped over two FEET of rain in Broward County causing flash flooding all over the place. It rains every day in Florida in the summer months. Long Island NY also sees a lot of rain, especially in the spring and fall. We can get snow in winter but we can also have very mild winters where not one snowflake falls. This past September was an absolutely incredible month. We went weeks straight without a drop of rain.

I have lived in FL ten years now. It used to be a great vacation location but as a resident it has become incredibly divisive and styfiling. State politicians are far more interested in passing corrosive legislations which do not help any Floridian with insurance crisis, homeless, home prices, inflation and the worst medical fraud in the nation. Useless state governing is the result when you have the Governor and the majority of the same party. I am a Republican but I am a disgusted one at that.
@MedoExpress6 ай бұрын
Which part of the insurance crisis, home prices and inflation do you want a state legislature to tackle? Going against PRIVATE insurance companies and telling them you can only charge so much, what will they do? Insurance companies will pick up and leave. You cannot force them to stay. This is a national issue, has to be done a national level in order for it to be beneficial for everyone. Even with that, they are actually working on ways to help Floridians, a bill being drafted is to have your insurance premiums be pre-tax deductibles on your income, saving you a decent amount of money, its not perfect but its something they are wanting to help. Home prices, you expect the legislature to do what exactly with this? We live in a free economy, as demand goes up, so does the cost. Lastly, inflation, what do you expect the state legislature to do, inflation is a global problem and national problem, thank your old pal Biden for that. Homelessness... this problem is worsening and its a major national issue, instead of sending billions to other countries, we could easily solve this to help our people on a National level.

Crowded with bad drivers, it was bad 5, 10, 15, 25, etc. years ago, but it's getting outta control reminds me of a mini Dallas or a mini Atlanta! 2. The cost is ridiculous from food to having a roof over your head, I remember when you could buy food, pay bills and live like a king or a queen. I know everything has gone up everywhere, but it's outrageous here! The homeless population is growing faster. 3. Storms / Harricanes 4. Can't find insurance because all the companies are leaving in some form or another ( I was also an insurance agent as my 2nd job, I know firsthand the pain from both sides) trust me insurance agents can't always get to insure their stuff either! 5. PEOPLE ARE RUDE!!!! Back when I was a kid people would help each other a lot more and have respect for one another, heck people would even wave to strangers. NOT ANYMORE, not sure if it's because there are so many people not from here who have brought their ways with them and the attitude is spreading or what but it's so sad, it wasn't this bad 5 years ago, let alone 2! 6. Because of the cost of living getting out of hand I find myself relocating more than ever before, I come from a family who lived in a home for over 47 years, now I'm moving every 7 mos, to a years because of the cost. 7. Jobs pay terrible here, and it's incredibly hard to find a good job, always has been. That was the number one reason why we moved in the first place was for better opportunity. And I did really well getting promoted to ops management before my mother got sick, causing us to come back... 8. Low pay but high rent! I mean the math ain't mathing at all. These jobs are making plenty of profit from all the people moving here so why not pour back into their workforce? 9. It's impossible to find health care here let alone anyone who will take decent insurance even if it's from your job! I have a Dr appt for my mother for her cardiologist for JAN 2025!!! SMH 10. It's hard to make good decent friends here, the old friends have moved away. And to find one who will not backstab is hard to find depending on where you live. Many people are to worried about only themselves to have someone in their corner who will be there for them... It' 's really sad. 😔 If you're planning to move to FL you've been warned! I'm Planning my final escape from this place once and for all now, and I can't wait to be promoted somewhere else. It will always be home, but home has now just become a house or a motel 6!😭😭🤦♀🤦♀😔😔🤣🤣

Florida used to be an absolutely beautiful place to live. Crystal clear springs, lakes, and rivers. Pristine beaches. Beautiful woodlands. Hundreds of thousands of acres of orange groves and cattle ranches. Then, Disney came in, followed by several other large theme parks and tourist attractions, and everything went to crap. Overcrowding, horrendous traffic, soaring home prices, and endless subdivisions. I was born and raised in Florida. I loved living there, but at 55 years old I couldn’t take any more of it. I've lived in Florida my entire life, and I'm just twenty. I try to stay out of politics, but I feel that Florida's political dynamics have turned our state much more Republican demographically and culturally than it has been in the past. I feel it was a nice place to be for me personally, with all the fun theme parks and tons of beautiful beaches and nature, but it has undoubtedly gotten quite overcrowded with new and returning residents, especially now that our population is approximately 23 million. It's also very hot and humid for a majority of the year (I like to bike ride a lot there and feel most comfortable doing that in December or January) and this combination with the critters and insects that roam the state, has made it feel kind of gross for me. I remember there just being farms and other similar plots of land on a specific highway in a formerly-rural area near my house north of the Tampa Bay area just under ten years ago. Now, at the same location, there have been so many new subdivisions being built, nonstop, that it has become so unrecognizable. Also the cost of living has gone up too. Since then, I have decided I want to live somewhere near the Rocky Mountains when I'm older. Not the cheapest option but I love it there and I can actually breathe fresh air and not feel crammed.

It's only gotten worse since the 80's. Can't blame FL for the rise in home insurance. The hurricanes have cost the insurance companies billions, so yep they are charging more. Car insurance is going up across the country due to theft so the companies spread the cost out across the country. If you don't punish the thieves, they're going to keep stealing, rates are going to keep rising. As for the politics... why would you move to a state who's politics aren't in line with your opinions? Im a Republican and born and raised in FL. I cannot stand Desantis! Not saying everything he has done is bad but he does not care about the citizens and only about what his donors want him to. Hes a complete joke of a governor.
