Over the last 10 years, I've heard of other cases like this one. The person has been missing for many years until it's finally discovered that they accidentally drove off the road into a deep body of water.

Sadly, the specifics of how it happened can almost never be determined, such as the chance of another vehicle's involvement like a hit-and-run, or a vehicle mechanical failure, or an animal in the road, or a "drugging" incident, or any other relevant factor. There's just far too much time passed that erases that evidence.

A guy crashed off a bridge 2 weeks ago and landed under it, no water, but no one found him for 6 days. I suspect there are many others that went of cliffs and are still obscured by trees and brush.

Search the story of Penny Kay Clark. A 73-year old woman accidentally drove off a cliff barrier. 4 days later a pair of hunters stopped at scenic overlook and spotted her crushed vehicle. She was found sheltering nearby on a canyon wall. Police were unable to locate her initially because of how random the location was.

Fisherman found him, he was found alive, pinned to his truck, having survived on rain water. He needed his leg amputated. But he survived!

We had searched in that area before. But sadly cell phone pings are not exact. Depending on topography and the amount of cell towers it only narrows our search range to 5-15 miles in diameter. On average in florida because of how urbanized it is we are looking closer to the 3-5 mile range.

You guys obviously did everything you could and it definitely sucks that your efforts weren’t rewarded at the time, but I guess at least you now know exactly what happened and she was at peace all that time rather than some of the horrible options that others have under gone when they went missing. She went on a date--- and the date was probably a suspect for so long! As this was deemed an accident, the date could heave a sigh of relief now. But for 12 years he must be in everybody's mind as the one responsible for her disappearance.

To avoid public scrutiny the police most likely avoided sharing the “date’s” name until evidence proved him responsible. The “date’s” family and friends most likely believed his innocence and if not, then they weren’t much of a friend.

Was curious about the guy she was meeting and found this from a June 2012 Daily Mail article by Emily Anne Epstein. "Family members say that Mrs Lemire left to meet with a man at a local McDonald's who she meet at SpeedDatecom. Video surveillance show that she did meet with the man, a district manager, for about two hours and left, never to be seen again. Police interviewed the man, but say he is not a suspect, with surveillance footage showing he stayed at the eatery long after she left, according to the Orlando Sentinel." Lucky for the guy there were surveillance cameras.

With as many as these cases ending with people having unfortunately ended up in a body of water in their vehicles, one would think city and state would now make it mandatory for such bodies of water capable of submerging a vehicle to be fenced off or barraade to prevent vehicles from entering.

Ten long years for this family. So glad they received closure thanks to those men. A sense of relief that someone else didn’t take her life as tragic as this is. My only concern is that we had satellite technology even back then. Is it possible to go back and look? I predict yes.

For years, I visited a beautiful spot on the river, admiring the view. About ten years ago, they happened upon a submerged car just feet away from there, containing the body of someone missing about 20 years. Hard not to think of that now.

This breaks my heart. The police didn't search this tiny lake knowing her cell phone pinged last in this area?? Her poor son probably grew up with horrible thoughts about something happening to his mother by the man she went on a date with. There's just no way ......literally hundreds of manmade pits for retention ponds , development drainage , rockpits etc . This one was a retention pond for a highway interchange and had a ring of brush almost all the way around it . Highway crews typically clear them every 5-6 years but the stuff grows back so fast due to the proximity of the water , there's no way to see in there .. another thing nobody thinks about is many of the retention ponds are about 10 feet deep .

It's not so simple, the phone ping was very close to her last location and there are many, many, many bodies of water in that 5 mile radius that could hide a car. I spent a ton of time looking into her case and never guessed that pond or that she would be on that road at all, I also started to question foul play.. Now ofc it makes so much sense what happened but with only the general area given its so hard to know. I do wish they would've looked more for her though, absolutely :(
