DeSantis was politicizing the life-threatening hurricane by refusing federal communication. He deliberately decided not to extend the voter registration deadline despite disruptions caused by the hurricane

@@kcjd8659I'm in NC, even if what you say is true, he stepped in and had help enroute to Western NC before our gov had even acknowledged there was an issue. Plus, what I've seen has been 100% better than what we have seen here. It would be nice to have representatives that did their jobs and weren't shady and deceitful.

My sister is in Gulfport and she keeps saying that you guys are talking about evacuation. No one in her neighborhood has evacuated and here’s the reason why there has been no gas and they barely got water brought into them by a dog shelter that gave them extra water that was evacuating so they have not been able to buy water or to get gas so she wants to know how do you want them to evacuate? Should they walk out of there, talking about that all the fuel pumps are shut down already so there’s no way they can evacuate and the people that left at 11:30 before the evacuation started. It took them two hours to go 31 miles so is it safe to go evacuate and be stuck on the freeway now I don’t think today is the day that we tell people to still evacuate I think it’s too late but if it’s not too late then why are they not bringing fuel in. They got hit severely with the storm from Elena and she said we never saw FEMA. They finally saw one vehicle FEMA that didn’t stop and didn’t do anything. She wanted to know what was going on with that. Neighbor has a brick home and they are going to try to go there. They do have ladders to climb on the roof just in case of the storm surge, but if this is a category four, what are their chances? She did notice that a bunch of boats have been parked around their neighborhood and wondered if all the people that live there mostly 60 are going to be able to climb in those boats or what isn’t expected of them. There was no gas yesterday but yet today you’re still telling people to evacuate, they actually tore down their fences to try to secure the homes because there was no wood. There was no way for them to prep for the storm. She said the LDS church there before they evacuated their missionaries were trying to help as many people as possible, and that was the most help that she saw, she sees dump trucks and tons of them but no one brought them to evacuate and they could’ve done the last few days. My sister Joeann said I think they’ve done everything possible to wipe out the southern states because they know one were Christians and two most of us are voting Republican. My sister is driving around and there’s a lot of people still trapped there. They are not choosing to stay but have to.

In western NC, neighbors and civilians from other parts of NC not affected and civilians from other states etc have come together and helping those in western NC, east TN etc with supplies, clean up, plus civilians that have their own helicopters are the ones that were on it immediately when Helene passed, to get to those that were stranded. Roads and bridges were completely taken out, homes washed away, etc. There are still approx 1000 ppl unaccounted. One man that has pack mules, was taking supplies up to those that the roads were gone. There are some cities that were washed away and there are others under several feet of mud. It looks like we need to go back to what I saw when I was a small child, if a neighbor got sick, injured, storm damage to property etc etc etc, the ppl took care of them. I've seen my daddy and have helped once I was older, cut/split fire wood and took it to several of our elderly neighbors in the winter. When our neighbor that lived a few houses up had a heart attack, he kept check and made sure they had wood, but also made sure it was cut/split into sizes his wife could handle. He has sent me too make sure she always had plenty on their back deck so she didn't have to even go bring it up. The community cooked meals for them and just helped them out, bc there was a lot on her, she wasn't able to work for a bit, and it was a major heart attack that took him a while to get back to 75%. This man cut his own wood, but he was not able to for over a year. He didn't have to worry about it though. When it snowed, he made sure their driveway way cleared. It was a combined effort and that's how things happened. It isn't like that these days. I think we need to take a look at some things and get back to doing that kind of thing again. Just my opinion.

I have family in Collier and family with little ones visiting at Perdido Key. The visitors are doing well and as soon as I finish watching I will be calling into Collier family. Sunday’s plan was to stay in the home and leave after if necessary. I will encourage going to a shelter tomorrow…health and basic supplies for life, communications included. Short note…the military language is a bit over the top..some yes but a lighter touch….nature is not a human enemy which our action can defeat. If we need new words, invent them for severe weather encounters(SWE……see? Not that hard.) Now teach this to the world, starting in Iceland and Italy around the volcanoes. Believe me they need your skill sets, on steroids given what I know about their situations, especially Naples Italy. Yes volcanoes are different but in time the predictions will improve but their situations and planning skills need serious upgrades. Conferences and people can learn Italian, Icelandic is another level. Be safe everyone.
