Florida is suffering now from the massive influx of people . The beaches are walled off by Condo's and Mansions . Every road is being being widened to at least 6 lanes . Nearly every species of animal both land and water are under stress due to development . The costs of Homes and Rent are skyrocketing as they are in most of America . Farms are disappearing and being replaced with Track Homes such as the Villages . And the hope is that having Water for all these people to drink will not become a concern . As most water is supplied by an Underground Aquifer . Florida use to be like a lazy river . Slow and enjoyable , not anymore . And for decades no one wanted to live in Florida due to the heat & bugs . Now everyone wants to live there . And that's why we left .

That's so true Danielle. There's definitely lots of those who come and go in the state of Florida. I think in part because some people can't get used to 'summer' all year long and then, it is no longer a cheaper place to live. The first time I "went outside" (that's what they call it when you travel OUT of AK), I went to Hawaii. All the other tourists were going nuts over the prices, but for me, it was the same as back home. AK is a very expensive place to live. Born and raised in the Orlando area! I’m 23 now and my suburb has gone from 5,000 to 50,000+ in just 20 years! It’s still super nice though (even if some days you see more New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania plates than Florida plates on the roads). Only complaints I have now are the insane traffic (it’s gotten really bad the last couple years) and the lack of healthier restaurants…at least in my part of town. I swear, it’s almost all fast food here. Even though this area has changed a ton, I don’t plan on moving…unless it gets too expensive of course. It really is a nice area! My family still lives there so I go back every now and then. I might end up moving back there one day to be close to family. Some things I always tell people about Florida is that it is WAY more than South Beach and Disney World. There are some really cool historic towns in FL. There are some cool outdoorsy spots that are not beaches. Try driving through an old, sleepy, mossy town in the middle of the state. You might just eat the best fish, oysters and/or bbq you've ever had. Florida is a very large state with a lot of stuff going on. Florida is getting the first private high speed rail in the country (Miami to Orlando) via Brightline. However, the speeds aren't that fast - only peaking at 125mph and only for a very short part of the time. The trip from Orlando to Miami is expected to take 3 hours and 15 minutes, which isn't that much faster than by car - although likely to be consistent (Miami traffic is like any major metro and can add hours to a trip). I hope Brightline is successful, but I only see limited cases for a line between MCO (Orlando airport) and Miami. It will become more useful once Brightline connects to the Orlando attractions and/or SunRail connects to the airport.

I lived in Florida for about 12 years (Tampa area), but left in August 2021. (Moved to a college town in North Mississippi.) Florida isn't an all-bad state by any means. Certainly, there is plenty to do if you're an active person... besides the beaches, of course! The downside is that the crowding and traffic is off-the-charts in much of the state. Crime is too high practically everywhere, not just in the larger cities! Stupefying heat & humidity for way too much of the year. And the frosting on the cake... rents have gone through the roof. The rents are approaching California rents, and NON-beach areas in Florida are also surprisingly expensive. For MOST people, the jobs aren't paying what it takes to make things happen. So for me, that was the final straw! In my opinion, the trends, going forward, don't look promising.

Up in the panhandle I can find people who like co existing with the gators, snakes, etc., so that's good. Some areas of where the map says NOTHING are good for those people. So many cool birds come through this area that I started gardening for them and recording yard nature, but my mic keeps picking up noise pollution over the birds. Often when I have gone to local state parks, the guests' music and partying completely drives away the wildlife I came to check out, but that is allowed. I hope what happens to crowding states, people finally start appreciating what they are losing, happens in FL. As a transplant from Chicago now living in Tampa I love it here! Weather is great cost of living amazing compared to Chicago. A lot of people are upset with traffic and cost of living but it’s really nothing compared to other cities. The pay is great here as well for the industries me and my wife are in. For a middle-class family, the best place in Florida for them to live would be somewhere around Hillsborough county. not in Clearwater st Pete or Tampa themselves, but rather one of the many surrounding suburbs. particularly some of the least populated ones, like plant city, brandon, valrico, seffner etc. all of them are close enough to the interstate to get to the city in about a half hour, which includes all of the theme parks like Busch gardens and adventure Island. you have everything you need, and you're always close to water in these suburbs.

We seen it time and time again. A place gets too popular, builds up too fast and before you know real estate pries start soaring, towns become cities and unmanageable. Then crime starts soaring and in a generation or two it becomes just another place to run away from, Plus if sea level rises a couple of feet by the end of century Florida fabulous beaches will get destroyed and storm damage from tidal surges from hurricanes will increase exponentially. .

As a matter of fact, most of us leaving are moderates or conservatives who want our money to work for us, instead of the other way around. We simply want more affordable lifestyles because most of us are professional class college graduates who rent. We want to leave California to experience more affordable lifestyles... unfortunately, greedy real estate investors and supply shortages are driving-up insane housing prices. I came to Florida in 1976 when I was 10. We lived in the Orlando area. Disney World was still very new. For $13.00, you could get a day pass and ride all the rides all day. Wekiwa (Although, we used to call it Wekiva) Springs Park was practically empty. We used to visit Miami when there was no high rises and only 2 million people (there is about 7 million now) When I went to college in 1984, I had to drive through the country to get to the almost new University of Florida, which had only a handful of buildings and some dorms. I moved to Gainesville in 1988 and the population then was less than 100,000. The University used to be closed in summer and half the population (students) would leave and some of the businesses would close up. I loved living there. We use to visit Cedar key and canoe down the Suwannee River. I live in California now, but go back to Florida every year to see my father and it is not recognizable. It makes me want to cry.

While getting my apartment renovated, I decided to spend a month living and working in South Florida between January/February of this year - Pompano Beach, specifically, and it was heavenly! Every day I could walk outside without freezing my buns off. I could ride my bike. I walked to the beach every other day. I lived there 7 years and came back up north. Unless you have a lot of money, which goes for everywhere, you end up in dead-zone suburban neighborhood like any other. If you imagine that you'll be sipping a Margarita under a palm tree with kettle drums playing in the background, you will be very disappointed. It's very buggy with oppressive heat that goes on and on.....When you go out your door, all you hear is AC units, landscapers (it never ends), and the scream of bugs. Most stay inside with the AC blowing, blinds shut and staring at a screen. You can venture out, but in minutes your clothes are wet with sweat. When you get in your car you can barely breathe for a few minutes, and if you crack the windows, good luck with a passing torrential rainstorm. Weird crime in the news every day (lots of sketchy transients). I had someone trying to get into my bedroom window at 3 in the morning. Thank God I put window regulator locks a week before. I had a friend who bought an house there but hated it. They moved to suburban DC where life is more to their style (upscale suburban). I spent some time in the Fort Lauderdale area and Miami. I don't know why I thought that I would like the Florida weather, I actually don't. I prefer the dry, hot weather of Southern California. Miami seemed hot and humid. In Florida, the further north you go the more south you get. This place is definitely not what it used to be. Especially in the Sarasota/ Bradenton area! Wayyyyy to many people and home prices are freaking insane. This place will implode on itself

I’m still finishing the vid, and maybe someone has said this in the comments already, but he was completely wrong on the croc vs gator response. Crocs have a more pointed snout with a protruding fourth tooth when their mouth is closed (they also have a generally worse attitude and can tolerate a higher level of salinity than gators), and the American crocodile (C. Acutus) is the only native croc here (south Florida down through South America)…gators have the more rounded snout and no protruding 4th tooth with a closed mouth…

North Miami is rough, even years ago. When then-President JImmy Carter visited the area, people threw bottles and trash at his limo, and he had to high-tail it out of there fast.

Well Carter was a terrible President and inflation and gas prices were out of control. Much like today. I don’t blame them.

Just came back from a few days at the beach in Destin. It was crowded..lots of traffic..and Right now it’s covered up with northerner snowbirds. They are kinda rude...not great. Another observation...everyone working is older. Waitresses, bartenders etc...young folks used to move there for those jobs because they can make SO MUCH MONEY. But now the work force seems fo be at least over 45- sometimes much more. All in all though..no masks and no tyrants bossing everyone around. And hey! I could use that generator! 😀I will pay the shipping!

Great content. I need to be near mountains, so Florida would be last on my list. But it’s good to understand what the draw is. I will say, the drive around Jax during the interview did not give a great impression- lots of empty sidewalks.

Yeah, Jacksonville wouldn’t be the best to feature in this video during this interview. I live in Jacksonville, and downtown it’s like a ghost town on the weekends and after 6 PM on the weekdays. I one day will move to be near the mountains when I retire.

We moved to Kissimmee, Florida 🌴☀️December 1989 from Duluth,Minnesota. We’ve lived in Sarasota + Merritt Island 🏝 🏖Sarasota is on the Gulf and the beaches are 🌊 absolutely beautiful 🏝The sand is like powder and the water 💦 plus sky is breath taking. Sunsets 🌅 are the best. Sarasota is growing with NEW MONEY 💰 at an alarming rate. Construction increasing. Plenty of employment. I personally love ❤️ Sarasota, as central Florida is increasing with crime. Merritt Island 🏝 has a population of 35,000-unincorporated(no mayor)which is near Cape Canaveral + Coco Beach 🏖. Great area for Seniors to retire. Many Stores close down around 7pm which is okay for most retired seniors. We will always live here ~~now going on 32years. Summers are HOT 🥵,however for the few months we look forward to cooler weather in the fall. I love ❤️ the heat with humidity as it’s like getting a great sauna of course being outside to do yard work is early mornings + late evenings. Thank you for this awesome information regarding FLORIDA 🌴☀️ 👉FLORIDA 🌴☀️ has the #1 Governor~~we’ve ever had living in several different USA 🇺🇸 States in the past~~our personal opinion. 🇺🇸Governor DeSantis stands 🆙 for 🇺🇸WE THE PEOPLE🇺🇸 recognizing the 📜CONSTITUTION + Bill of Rights📜 We Floridians believe~~someday he will run for POTUS + he will win.🥇 Thank you for sharing the History of our Beautiful State 🇺🇸👍🌴☀️

As a Floridian I can say that I’m tired of people in the state politicizing everything. We live in a red state and all the conservatives only talk about is freedom of this and that. We are free to do whatever we want. Clowns is what we have as politicians now days. 😤

Now I know where to move, north Florida, i lived in and around the Tampa area but left because it just is getting way to crowded, going to a job 10 minutes away will take a half in hour if not more with the traffic and the crime and drugs are up too. I remember years ago when 54 in the Newport Richy area was a two lane rd now its six lanes. Just to crowed, give me country living.
@tankshots34522 жыл бұрын
Tampa is full of crime but it doesn’t get noticed. Going through Tampa you’ll realize it’s literally a hood in every corner of the city.

Yeah, I remember the two lanes of SR. 54. I should have never sold my home in Vets Village. Now I can't re- buy it. I'm coming back soon though, within a month.
