It never ceases to amaze me how these yachts with their massive wakes have the entire ocean but choose to steam past 30 feet away.

Well the closer they keep you, the better they can keep an eye on you. And come on now like they are probably interested in seeing what action you have going on.

At least they slowed so as not to wash you. I caught a 41# king trolling off Egmont in the Gulf. I grabbed the leader and as soon as it was over the gunnel the hook came out of its mouth...macks seem to be good for that.
@robthetimekeeper24232 жыл бұрын
Legal sized dinner fish are hard to find on the ocean side in less than 100ft depth due to all the fishing and spearfishing pressure from tourists and locals alike. In a kayak, you would be better off in the backcountry where you only have to compete with other shallow draft boats.

I’m surprised you were able to troll that minnow and the smaller barracuda not be all over it, I used to live on Big Pine key and most days you couldn’t troll a small minnow plug like that without cuda’s becoming a nuisance. Like you said there’s a lot going on in the waters there.

Always drives me nuts when I’m on my kayak and actively fishing and a powered vessel makes no effort to give you a little bit of a wider birth or show some courtesy and drop speed a little. I know it’s not required but it’s nice to show some respect on the water and err on the side of safety. When I’m in my center console I cut to headway speed if I’m within a few hundred feet of a kayak.

FEELS like we're right there with ya! 😛 THANKS AGAIN.

Man I’ve had the other treble get caught in the net countless times and then also rip the fish right off as it thrashes going in. The tail grab is usually the easiest way to get a tired mackerel or big bluefish in.
