Actually clearing the land in Florida or anywhere for that matter is the easy part of the job. The actual work begins when you come in off a job or when you need to do some maintenance on your equipment ( D6 LGP DOZER, 410J John Deere, Rome Plow, etc..). This video is a look at what it takes to keep this two man operation (it's actually a husband and wife team) running. You're in for a few laughs and a couple of OMG, (I'm sure that is not OSHA approved, lol) moments. Sit back and enjoy the video. As always, feel free to leave your comments and shoot me an email or give me a call if we can help you out with your land clearing project. Thanks for watching

One them damn bearings weighs 90 lbs. Fellow I used to work for had one he bought, a newer one bought in 2015 new Rome w the 36 inch disk like yours. This one I think is 20 foot wide. It was wider than our 360 horse Deere w spaced out duals that wrapped round 4 36inch rows us about another tire width that's bout 6 rows wide. Bout 18 20 foot. That was somethin to watch, it handles all your roots smaller stumps trees and mulches them up

The Rome folks told us not to grease them like your normal harrow w jus 2 or 3 pumps a year, these ones was pose to be greased everyday and I'm guessing they right cause we did have that one go out but only had to grease the back ones the fronts were oil bath in 90 wt. Ain't never seen nothin stout as them bearings and axles

Awesome to see your rome disk up close. The one that i bought is still a couple hours away from me, still frozen in the ground. Today we are getting another bad blizzard. 10 inches of snow, -20 wind chill, and 110km/h winds. Wont be for another couple weeks before i am able to go get mine. Thanks for the tips on taking the gangs apart. I just bought myself a rotary rock rake yesterday. 12' PTO driven rock rake, in combination with the rome disk the bush that i push i will be able to rake the roots, and the rocks off and make it cultivatable land immediately.

I've been battling the trees on my property for over 20 years. If I knew then what I know now I would've just rolled in a beast of a machine years ago. I carved a backyard out of a jungle the hard way and now I find myself moving to Florida. Our property down there in Taylor County is only 2 vacant acres and we just closed on it recently. Unlike years ago though I don't want to mess around with it I just want to knock it flat. Steel building after that will be house and machine shop.

@@stevebenifiel5068 Nope, not again. I don't know exactly when I'm allowed or even if I have to ask the powers that be about clearing our lot. I got the deed so it was recorded and had boundary survey done but before I even get power in or cut a driveway I want to flatten it. It's not very dense woods at all or at least doesn't look it from Google and trees no where near the 3' dia. monsters I took out of here. Being in that business....is it enough to have deed in hand to level it or does someone at city or county need to be notified first or permit sought?

I think I saw in one of these videos that you were retired though. Do you know of anyone else in the area that go in and flatten two acres? The lot isn't dense so we figured better to start with a blank slate and plant the trees we want on it. I.e. if you can't eat it or use it we don't need it.

Hi Steve. Enjoyed the video. I think I’m pretty close to you just north west of Ocala Fl. Would you be interested in having a young guy tag along a bit? Would love to hang around just to learn a thing or two sometime. I’m pretty interested in what you do and I have quite a bit of experience running smaller equipment like skid steers and excavators. I have run a dozer a few times so my experience is pretty limited with that, but I’ve done it. Seems like you definitely know a thing or two and I’d love to get some insight. Best regards, Dylan
@stevebenifiel5068
@stevebenifiel5068 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mr Dylan glad you enjoyed the video, best way for young man to get experience is to hire on with a large construction company and work your way up the ladder, most time we have a landowner looking over our shoulder so it is impossible to put someone in cab and turn them loose, don't get me wrong as I would do it but not fair to man paying for the machine with experienced operator, know you see both sides, I have been exactly where you are everyone tells you get experience and no one will give you time to get experience, DO NOT get discouraged, we all have been thru it, can give up and hit mickey d's or keep banging till you get enough experience that you can call your own shots, an Dylan when you do and some youngster hits you up, STOP what you need to be doing and take a minute like I have today and explain and coach the youngster, thanks youngster for taking the time and the kind words on our video.

Real estate is insane here now so it's time to cash out and cut out before we become the next Detroit.
