Gallagher told me they were known as the Florida Legends until TJ Lubinsky booked them on one of his first Doo Wop 50 shows and suggested they change their name to the Legends of Doo Wop

I was a big fan of this group! I don't think anyone ever figured out why Ronnie I. always called them the Florida Legends. They said in an interview that their name was always The Legends of Doo-Wop, and although they were living in Florida, they never actually went by the name The Florida Legends. It's just something that Ronnie basically came up with on his own.

I believe he called them the Florida Legends because there was an East Coast group by that name. Thanks Richard Zelinsky for showing what went on in those years. From your tone I can guess that you are someone who actually lived it. No one else I've seen has captured that. Tell me something of your background. Last time I felt this way I was leaving the third showing of Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein so I could watch The Five Keys again. I got to meet La Verne Baker and Joe Williams and Earl Speedo Carroll. And I just shook Willie Winfields hand at his last performance ever. He died a few months later. Besides Pookie, he had the greatest lead voice I ever heard. Ever hear of a guy named Steve Probst? Had a great radio show from Long Beach and interviewed so many of them.

They are very good, but they are ,i assume a cover group. I Wonder what UGHA stands for. We had alot of oldie goldie nightclubs in Broward County , Fla, in the 70s, 80s. & 90s, with live groups like this one.

Joyce the last time I looked we recorded most of these songs FIRST. Cover group is a poor choice of words.

@@OldDiggerGuy Im so sorry i used that term. I guess i needed to pay more attention to the video. Im going to watch it again . You all sound very good. I was a recording artist myself all through the 1960s. All the best to you guys. Maybe i will see your performance one day here in Fla.😅

@Joyce Yolanda Storch, these guys and others get together and may do cover songs, but they are original members of well known groups from back in the day. I’m 76 and grew up with this music. With the original groups, many members were in their 70’s & 80’s and have passed away. Existing members formed new groups to carry on the best music in history. Some were not allowed to carry a group name, so renamed to a new group.

@@Rob_430 I understand. Thank you for informing me. Im 73 and i started very young as a singer in the record business. I would sometimes do rock&roll shows with a few original original groups back in the early 1960s.
