I live in Clearwater and charters and local dudes with big boats, are very protective of their spots, even on charters they take your phones so you can't record the GPS co-ord and then give your phone back once they have left the spot, they also don't like stopping within sight of another boat as guys are "spying" on each other.

Great video quality but what I can't stand in any outdoor video whether it be hunting fishing or diving is background music. The thing I like about Dan's videos there not over produced.

Understood. You can't make everyone happy...and audio is always one of the most actively commented aspects of KZbin videos it seems (versus actual content). On one of my other not over-produced spearing videos ("The Pipes") where there is no background music and just ambient audio, a commenter said "I love spear videos but absolutely cannnnot stand the audio that comes with. Most aggravating noise in the world". So...yeah.

Life long fisherman but NOT a diver. Love Dan's vids now I'm subscribed to yours. Bunch of questions but I'll limit it to two. First, obviously y'all target the gags because they pay the best but why? I've seen Dan pass up nice red grouper but having eaten both I couldn't tell much difference. Secondly, why don't y'all use powerheads for these fish as it seems much time is waisted retrieving fish that weren't 'stoned'? Does it spook other fish?

Hi Lon - a lot of this comes down to quota and economics. Once you use up your allocated quota share for red grouper or red snapper, for instance, you need to either buy or lease quota from another individual to land any more of that species for that year. And if you lease it, the owner takes money off the top...so if you were getting say $6/pound under your quota, but when you lease it you need to pay the quota owner $4/pound, you are now only making $2/pound for those fish. So, that may be part of the equation depending on the time of year, etc. Or, a 20-pound gag simply pays more than a 10-pound red grouper. Just depends I guess. I think the powerhead use on fish in the Gulf is frowned upon by the buyer (outside of AJs), though I know they use them in the Atlantic. Thanks for subscribing!
