Couple thoughts here. 1. That Florida crowd was weak last night. A game of that magnitude in most arenas would be going nuts in a game 7 I just didn’t hear it. I was at the cup in 03 and felt like it was just non stop chanting and then like you said 3rd period became a party. 2. Mcdavid rightfully deserved mvp and it wasn’t even close. Who gives a shit if he didn’t come out to get it. 3. I think Florida has laid out the blueprint of what you need to do in today’s game of hockey to win. Edmonton hats off to them they are very much like the Devils and have almost laid out the speed blueprint of how to win but ultimately the little small things of winning the battles on the boards and giving guys no room to breathe just out weighs speed in the end and Panthers entire playoff run was entirely that.

@mattjones1460 I was thinking the same thing, but thought maybe it was just "lost" on TV. I mean the reality is, the Game 7 tickets could have been had for like $1,000 each late last night. That is EXTREMELY CHEAP for a Stanley Cup Finals Game 7 in 2024. I think it's a fairly telling stat about their fanbase. Connor deserved the Conn Smythe. The Panthers are a grinding throwback type team. I am sure people around the league took notice. Hopefully Fitzgerald did. He has to win some battles in the war room against the Analytics Nerds! I got a bit teary eyed seeing Keith Tkachuk crying lol. I was a fan of his back in the day and always had the impression that he was a really good guy. That was a great game to cap off a great series. It's not often that we get to witness a series with so much drama (that isn't centered around guys trying to injure each other or some kind of tit-for-tat nonsense). I didn't mind McDavid staying in the locker room and not coming out to take the Conn Smythe trophy because I figured 1) they waited too long and now it was just awkward 2) it was in Florida and the fans were going to boo him so what's the point? 3) the focus is the Cup, anyway! He wasn't being a poor sport, the guy just killed himself on the ice trying to tie the game and had his heart broken and was in no place emotionally to come out and get a consolation prize. We just watched him carry his team on his back and put everything he had into every game he played in this playoff run. People need to chill out and cut him some slack.

@WaltBTB I always loved Keith as a kid as well. That 1996 Team USA World Cup team was a truly special one! The league waited entirely too long to bring the Conn Smythe out. I don't blame him one bit. The guy is a great ambassador for the sport and he just had his heart shattered in front of the entire world. #BringBradyToNJ

So wrong for the losing team to have a player win the Conn Smythe. I remember in 2003 when they gave the Conn Smythe to Jean-Sébastien Giguère when all Martin Brodeur did was beat the mighty Senators in game seven and pitch a shutout in game seven in the finals. I am still bitter about that 21 years later. Very disrespectful McDavid didn’t even come out to accept the trophy.

@@runninwiththedevils You did correctly state the case for the Comm Smythe being for the ENTIRE playoffs and NOT just the Cup Finals (in pointing out McDavid going scoreless Games 6 & 7) but then pointed out Brodeur having 3 shutouts in the ‘03 Finals & losing out on the CS to Mattress Pads, so a little bit of inconsistency there, but overall a good effort in your video. Brodeur would have never gotten it anyway because of the stigma of “oh, he plays behind a defense of Stevens & Niedermayer and only faces 15 shots per game”…, blah blah blah.

Late to the party here, but CONGRATS CATS! One hell of a series. As for Alanis - I had heard the Mike Peluso rumor in passing, but that Uncle Joey rumor was pervasive in our youth. We all *KNEW* it was Uncle Joey. You couldn't tell mid-90's kids otherwise! Also, Sean McDonough is the worst for this reason - he doesn't actually call the game. Ray Ferarro is out there pretty much filling in the gaps, while McDonough is rattling off stats being fed to him through the headpiece. I miss Doc. We were spoiled for sure.

ABC has to censor the F bombs, because they can get heavily fined by the FCC, unfortunately. I agree, I want to hear the profanity and the emotion...but a big company, like ABC, not censoring an F bomb during the best sporting final ever? The fines would be in the millions. They fine you for every F bomb dropped. Its exactly why my fiancé has a shirt that says "Bleep the FCC." That being said, this was an absolutely amazing game. I do not blame McDavid for not coming out to receive the trophy. He's a team player, and he wanted to be with his team player, and wanted to be with his teammates. I think he definitely earned that award though. Kid is a beast. Was hoping to see Henrique win a cup, but I am happy for Florida to win their first cup in franchise history. They definitely wanted it more. They earned it. Florida also showed toughness and hitting is absolutely necessary to win. Florida had 30 hits in this game compared to the Oilers 19. Guys like Nico and Mier really need to step it up a notch. We also need to #BringBradytoNJ

@@runninwiththedevils Also, let's not forget about 2001 😡..The Devils had a 3 - 2 lead in the Finals against The Avalanche, AND had Game 6 at the Continental Arena..I'm still in therapy for that loss..I knew we had no chance in game 7, so imo, the Devils should have 4 Cups and the first team to win two in a row since Montreal did it back then..we NEVER should have lost game 6, that was my game 7 that year and it killed me..I never felt like we were in the series during the Finals in 12' against L.A..but we had Colorado beaten down and we let them get up, horrible and sad for us Devils fans..I like and respect Ray Bourque (prob spelled that wrong, sorry Ray), but if I had to hear about him never winning the Cup during those Finals one more time, I was gonna throw something through my TV brother..then after they won it 🤮, it was the Ray Bourque show..I just couldn't feel good for him, a lot of guys never win a Cup, what made him so special?..my Dev's should have broken his heart..like I said, I'm still working on it in therapy..I loved Henrique too and wouldn't have been super crushed if Edmonton would've won..but Florida is my 2nd team, only bcs they play like my Devils do, very similar systems..now it's Jersey's turn!!..I'm not getting any younger boys, please 🙏..LET'S GO DEVILS!! 👏👏 👏👏👏👹 #BringBradyToNJ

Congratulations to the Panthers. I know I was talking a bit of s*** about the fans, but I was happy when the team finally won one, even though I wanted the Oilers to win. I remember when the team came into the NHL and was named the Panthers. Went to a few games at the old Miami arena and lots of games when the Devils came down. Only bad thing is that the Devils usually played their backup, lol. I hate when the Conn Smythe goes to the loser player, but it’s hard to argue McDavid doesn’t deserve it. It’s whatever. I agree with McDavid for not coming out and accepting the trophy. I wouldn’t either, especially when the Florida fans are booing, as they did for the Canadian Anthem. Low class Florida fans. Tickets got to $550 at the start of the game. I should have took off early and sat in the Sawgrass Mills mall parking lot and waited. 😂 Anyway, Brady was pumped and it has to push him to want the Cup even more. Hopefully the Sens blow next year and he wants out. We’ll see. Anyway, glad the season is over and hoping the offseason goes by fast. LGD!

2003 finals, yes Brodeur got 3 official shutouts but FOH honestly he got 4!!! Yes, game 4 scoreless going into OT , he shut them out for 60 minutes 😤 I doubt we ever see ANYTHING like that again!! Don’t get me wrong- I watched the entire JSG run myself & he was insane through 3 rounds, the nhl’s Linsanity moment. BUT he didn’t play like that in the finals. The Devils didn’t struggle with JSG like the Western Conference teams did. Marty got robbed, period! P.S. Bobrovsky looked pretty good for an ancient 35 year old goaltender 👴 🦯, can’t wait to see what our senior citizen netminder has in store for 2024-25 😈

For Brady I think Mathew was talking in him going to Florida with him. Just watch if he want to be traded after next season, he will be in Florida. Bummed for Rico and McJesus however fuck Canada, Perry and Nurse, also pumped for Tkachuk, Bob, Barkov, Maurice, the escaped Sabers following in Eichels foot steps (Okposo and Rienhart) and can't forget about Luuuuuango. Brady seeing Matthew lift the Cup will only make the likely hood of him requesting a trade to NJD to increase by magnitudes of McJesus's point totals. Bob or Barkov should have won the Smythe, while Bob didn't have a spectacular save% Bob played fantastic outside of games 4-6 (McDavid went pointless in games 6 and 7 so it's not like Connor didn't have poor games), idk if Barkov got scored against this series but Barkov had locked down Kouch/Stammer and Tampa, Pasta and Boston, and then panarin and the fugazies. Sure Barkov didn't have 40+ points but he arguably played the more complete/better game.

Yes you can point to Games 6 and 7, but that doesn't negate an all time tournament performance. 4th best All Time, and best in 31 years. There is something to be said for that. I would have voted for McDavid for the Conn Smythe as well....

@@runninwiththedevils Bob was also top 10 all time save% in the finals across Floridas four wins saving .954%.... now unfortunately goalie stats don't all just keep piling up but also can get subtracted from in off games. However similar to how Hall won the Hart over McDavid in 18' because the Devils made it to the playoffs and the Oilers didn't, McDavid shouldn't have gotten this one either which he seemingly proved by not going out and accepting it, you think he wants a participation trophy?
