This is an easy fix. TAKE THE PHONES AWAY FROM YOUR KIDS! My gosh. Why are adults acting so darn helpless? If your child must have a phone, give them a basic flip phone with no internet access. Put restrictions for them on the computer/ laptop. It’s not that hard to do people. The real problem we’re facing is the lazy parent epidemic. As the adult, it’s your responsibility to take charge . Geesh🤦🏾‍♂️

Why is the Florida government deciding what your children should and should not be reading or doing? This is the parents responsibility not the Governor. Banning 13, 14 and 15 year olds from social media sites is crazy. You can't stop the future and the future is computers and internet. Here are some thoughts. How about passing bills to educate parents on how to divert their children's attention, on anti-bullying, on teaching young people how to create creative and educational social media content, on youth education geared towards responsible usage of social media... In America, you cannot tell people what they can and cannot do as far as what they read, watch on TV. Here are some bills just as ridiculous as this one: no one under the age of 14 can play action games, can play football (brain damage), can watch any PG+ and above TV shows in their homes... I'm sorry, but these jerks down there sound like 80+ year olds who can barely use a cellphone and still write checks to pay bills. And I'm 65yo. Why aren't they embracing the internet's beauty and making it a better place for the future instead of trying to ban it altogether and leave their kids behind as the world moves forward?

Well, as a mother of 4, I'll give the solution that worked for my family. I simply pulled the plug. Computer a problem? Unplug. Phone a problem? Snatched. Tablet a problem? Snatched. Wifi an issue? Unplug. There were time limits. As they aged, rules were naturally adjusted. Honestly, there were no issues. Rules are rules, they were followed or there were consequences. Simple. Boundaries were set, end of story. My kids are now all grown. No one missed out, no one felt deprived, everyone survived.

There is no law that can replace good parenting. That last parent was so against social media and the last thing she says is that her kid has an account. If you have kids, you should retire from the Adult world. Quit trying to make everyone bend to your family-friendly bull.

My daughters are 13 & 15.. they’re not allowed to have social media and both are fine with that after seeing all the problems it causes especially at school. We frequently have discussions about it and they both are content with my rules..not being a prisoner to social media compared to many other teen girls is telling.. they both are so motivated and involved in their studies opposed to viewing crap that is sure to cause anxiety, depression and suggestive behavior.. I’ve always said we can revisit the topic at age 17-18.. both are ok with it. The most they have mentioned is that they possibly would like Snapchat .. only reason being is that according to them .. kids don’t ask or exchange phone numbers, they ask for their “snap”. My oldest thought at times it’s embarrassing to say she can’t have it.. it’s only come up twice in all these years.. not that a parent should have to explain their reasons but I do show them studies and newsworthy programs that highlight the dangers and negative impact.. just be involved with your kids.. I truly don’t feel anything good comes from social media but as a conservative I do feel it’s the parents job not government.. I just hope parents will take note of the dangers.. I’m sure many will say I’m wrong and that my kids do things behind my back.. totally false.. they’re both high honor roll students and they tell me everything.. now what we do watch together are videos by Prager U.. they thoroughly enjoy this and learn a lot.. Prager U is conservative , which I think the country has gone to crap with this “woke” mess n dei nonsense

I know that people get a dopamine rush from likes and the like on social media, but is it really an addiction? It seems a bit hyperbolic to me. Then again, my constitution is very different from the average American, so add it to the long list of things to which I can’t relate.

This is leading up to the question of How this would be enforceable at any level. It will eventually lead to National or International identification required for social media sites. I've been expecting this for a long time, and I completely welcome it. But it does pose its own set of challenges, mainly How to ensure it all doesn't just descend into a massive underground culture, removed from regulated social media platforms.
